YARN DYEING:-
Yarn dyeing is a special type of dyeing process. This dyeing process is slightly difference from woven or knit dyeing. Dyed yarns are used for making stripe knit or woven fabrics or solid dyed yarn fabric or in sweater manufacturing.
Yarn can dye in two form, package or hank form. Flowchart of yarn dyeing can be divided into three stages. Preparatory process, Dyeing and After-treatment process.

INTRODUCTION TO REACTIVE DYES:-
REACTIVE DYE:-
As the name implies, these dyes react with cellulose to establish covalent bond, are water soluble.
Dichlorotriazinyl reactive dyes are highly reactive, suitable for exhaust method; cellulose dyed with these will have poor wash fastness because of partial hydrolysis. While monochlorotriazinyl and vinyl sulphone are less reactive, suitable for application of padding and posses good wash fastness(no partial hydrolysis).
Dyes are eco-friendly; full hue as well as shade range exist.
Due to strong fiber-dye interaction, fastness properties are remarkably good except wash fastness.
Reactive dyes have very good light fastness of rating 6.
Reactive dyes have good wash fastness of rating 4-5
GENERALIZATION OF REACTIVE DYES:-
Introduction:-
The general formula of reactive dye can be written as following D-X-Y Here,
D= reactive site
X= Bridge between and reactive site and chromophore
Y= chromogen with water solubilizing group
D-X-Y+ Fiber = Fiber covalent bond.
Reactive basically belong to two classes via 1)substitutive
2)additive
substitutive dyes include mono and dichlorotriazines
additive type include mainly vinyl sulphone dyes(ramazol dyes)
TYPES OF REACTIVE DYES:-
Dichlorotriazine- Two chlorine; so highly reactive
- Nucleophilic substitution mechanism
- Alkali needed to stabilize the phis Na2CO3.
- Temperature required is 400
monochlorotriazine- One chlorine; so less reactive
- Nucleophilic substitution mechanism
- Alkali needed is NaOH.
- Temperature needed is 700 .
vinyl sulphone-Nucleophilic addition mechanism

COLD PAD BATCH PROCESS:-
Cold pad batch dyeing method gives you the required fastness standards with ease and minimum costs, and less energy; however dyers have been reluctant to use this method in general because of following reasons given by them:
1- Difficulty of lab. To bulk reproduction.
2- Large space required for batching.
3- Control of temperature during fixation phase.
4- Longer batching time.
5- Long time required to asses correct shade.
SALIENT FEATURES:-
salient features of this method:
Significant cost saving and waste reduction, . as compared to other dyeing methods.
Total elimination of the salt and other specialty chemicals such as anti migrant, leveling agents and fixing agents.
Optimum utilization of dyes which reduces the chemical cost and waste load of effluent.
Excellent wet fastness properties.
This process works at low temperature and low liquor ratio, thus saving energy and water considerably.
A uniform dye quality with even color absorbency and color fastness.
Ease of running small batches.
A high reliability and reproducibility as compared to other continuous methods.
It improves the fabric quality.
It shows added luster, brighter shade.
A soft hand feel and far better penetration of dyes.
SELECTION OF DYES:-- Dye chemistry
Substantively
Reactivity
Diffusion coefficient
Solubility
DYE CHEMISTRY:-
In dye chemistry there are two main factors which govern the dye chemistry of reactive dyes chromospheres and reactivity.
The chromospheres are responsible for the color gamut, light fastness, bleach fastness, solubility, affinity and coefficient of diffusion.
The reactivity is responsible for the application properties such as dye fiber bond stability, efficiency of the reaction with the fiber, affinity and alkali requirements of dyeing
SUBSTANITIVITY:-
Mainly dependent on the nature of chromospheres. A higher substantivity will have low solubility of dyes, high fixation rate, and lower diffusion of coefficient, less sensitive towards temperature, pH and dyeing conditions, high risk of unleveled dyeing. Difficult to remove unfixed dye.
REACTIVITY:-
The reactivity of the dye can be responsible for low and high dyeing time, temperature and pH alteration can modify the reactivity and two dyes of different reactivity can be dyed at the same conditions by adjusting pH and temperature.
DIFFUSION CO-EFFICIENT:-
High diffusion coefficient dyes has better levelling and less dyeing time.
SOLUBILITY:-
Dyes of better solubility can penetrate quickly in the fiber and gives better fixation and leveling, the dye solubility can be increased by increasing temperature, adding urea and reducing electrolytes.
Parameters:-
For cold pad batch dyeing method the foremost thing is the preparation of the fabric which should have following parameters:
• Complete removal of size
• Good singeing
• Very good absorbency through out width and length
• Uniform whiteness
• Crease free
• Relaxed fabric
TYPES OF PRESSURE PADDERS:-
1-Pressure padders:- 2-Finishing padders 3-dyeing padders:-
Points to be taken care:-
The Most Important Factors Of Cold Pad Batch Dyeing
Suitable Fabric Humidity
The Temperature Of Fabric Before Cooling Padders
The Temperature Of Fabric Before Trough Entrance
The Temperature Of Fabric At The End Of Trough After Dyeing
The Temperature Of Fabric At The Entrance Of Washing After Waiting (Rotation)
Settings:-
Dye Bath Temperature :-
The temperature of the dye bath to be dyed and the temperature of trough must be supplied to be equal (20-25 ºC desired)
Pick-Up :-
The rate of pick up in sample of padder and the rate of pick up while manufacturing in bulk must be equal (The ideal pick-up is 50-60 %)
The Time Of Diving :-
The time of fabric diving into dyeing trough and dyeing diving in manufacture must be same. (2-4 seconds is desired in the time of diving)
The Time Of Waiting :-
The time of waiting of dyed fabric must be 16 hrs. but it is not always same. It mainly depends on dye used.
The Temperature Of Waiting :-
The waiting temperature of sample dye must be equal with the dyed fabric in manufacture. The sample to be waited has been cared to be winded with plastics.
(Desired waiting temperature is 20- 25 °C)
The batch should rotate not more than 40 rpm.
Temperature of the fabric , dye bath and the batching atmosphere should not be more than 35 C

CONCLUSION:-
I am very much happy by doing training program and my project work at this evolving textile division BHARAT VIJAY MILLS of SINTEX LTD. It was a real honor and advantageous period for me.
I learn so many industrial things and gain so many immortal experience which is beyond the bookish knowledge.
I like the work culture, company atmosphere, upward and downward communication in company and the support of every employee I have ever came across during training period.
I don’t know it will be helpful to this company which I suggest to look into the lubrication of processing machinery at regular interval. I know it wont increase the production rate but it will increase the machine efficiency and increase the running time of the machine which is really a cost saving thing. I wish the company will focus on this field and take necessary steps .
At last I want to Thank you all my mentors and supporting hands from SINTEX LTD. And looking forward for a positive relationship with this company in future.
