Research objectives:

• Assess the different information types and QoS requirements in Intelligent Microgrids.

• Develop a robust and reconfigurable information infrastructure based upon existing and emerging wireline and wireless communication technologies that will efficiently support the integration of Intelligent Microgrids.

• Account for physical, MAC and network layer performance.

2011

• Preliminary studies to characterize different information types in Intelligent Microgrids to establish their QoS parameters and to classify their dynamic QoS requirements

• Investigation of issues of grid integration requirements, and emerging communications systems in supporting Intelligent Microgrids

2013

• Development of robust transmission techniques suitable for information exchange in Intelligent Microgrids

• Development of cooperative and reconfigurable transmission and intelligent information processing schemes over heterogeneous wireless/wireline communications networks for integration of Microgrids

2015

• Development and evaluation of interworking and integration strategies for efficient transmission and information processing techniques and re-configurable, service-oriented networking architectures suitable for a robust information infrastructure to support the integration of Intelligent Microgrids and based on available and emerging communications technologies
