PSG POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE
ABOUT THE INSTITUTION
PSG Polytechnic College, established in the year 1939, a pioneer institute in
the field of Technical Education and Research Government aided, ISO 9001
certified institution with Autonomous status from 1976. This aids it to have a
flexible curriculum and updated syllabi. The Polytechnic College has the best
laboratories with free access to the students and prepares them with the latest
method of learning industrial practices.
The industry attachment programme, compulsory for all courses provides
the students with intensive industrial exposure. The college is located in the
same campus as the PSG Industrial Institute. One unique feature at PSG
Polytechnic College is the close collaboration of educational institutions and
industries, resulting in the cross fertilization of theory with practice.
CANADA INDIA INSTITUTIONAL
CO-OPERATION PROJECT
The Canada-India Institutional Co-Operation Project (CIICP) is a Human
Resource Development project initiated during the year 1991 through a
Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government of India and
the Government of Canada. The project was initially financed by the Canadian
International Development agency. The overall project strategies were evolved
by the association of Canadian Community Colleges and the Ministry of
Human Resource Development, Government of India. The project was
handled by Canadian experts and the CIICP activities were implemented in 8
Polytechnic colleges in Tamil Nadu under phase I & II. In March 1999, the
Canadians handed over the project to the Indian counter parts to sustain and

to replicate the initiatives in our state.
1. MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM
The students and faculty database for the year 2018-19 was updated. All the data related to
academic process has been updated in the management information system. Students made
online feedback entry for the odd and even semesters of the year 2018-19. Department and faculty
profiles were revised and updated in the website.
2. CONTINUING EDUCATION CELL Continuing Education Cell has conducted 1 short term programme on Basics of Computer with 5
participants, 1 short term programme on C Programming with 9 participants, 1 short term
programme on Digital Graphics & Motion Graphics, 1 short term programme on Modeling &
Animation, 1 short term programme on Photo Editing & 1 short term programme on Python with 2
participants from 16.4.18 to 4.5.18 by the departments of Information Technology & Computer
Engineering.
CEC has organized “State Level workshop on Mobile Computing using Android” for the faculty of
various Polytechnic Colleges on 1st & 2nd Feb 2019 with 23 participants by the department of
Information Technology.

from 12.2.2019 to 15.3.2019 with 13 participants by the department of Mechanical Engineering.

3. INDUSTRY- INSTITUTE INTERACTION
Under “Industry institute interaction”, more number of internship training, guest lectures,
consultancy work were carried out throughout the year for the benefit of students and faculty
members. A Memorandum of Understanding between Department of foundry technology, PSG
Polytechnic College and TVS Sudaram Clayton Ltd, Chennai has been signed during the month of
September, 2018.Students of all branches had visited more number of industries across the
country and gain knowledge on industrial practices.The student‟s project exhibition -2019 was
conducted on 23.04.2019 for final year students and best two projects of each branch were
awarded with certificates.
4. STAFF DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
Awareness Programme for Internal Auditors:
One Day workshop on ISO 9001:2015 (New version) Awareness Programme for
Internal Auditors (Teaching Staffs) was organized on 01.06.2018. Mr. Subramoniam, corporate
trainer was the resource person. 90 members had participated.

Effective Communication:
One Session on Effective Communication was organized on 14.07.2018 for Non teaching
staff members. Mr.NC.Nandhagopalan,Secretary, PSG Schools (Teaching Staffs) was the

5. STUDENT SERVICES
Students Union was inaugurated by Mr. D. Nandakumar, President, PSG Tech Alumni
Association on 04.07.2018, about 500 students attended the function.
Student Services and Placement Section jointly organized the following three programmes
for placement opted Diploma students. The program was sponsored by Directorate of Technical
Education, Chennai and conducted by Mahindra Pride School, Chennai under CSR Scheme.
1. Automobile Workshop from 12.11.2018 to 16.11.2018 at Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College for final year students of DME, DDD, DME(SW) and DAE
2. Soft Skill Training from 19.11.2018 to 24.11.2018. About 142 final year diploma students
from 14 branches of engineering participated in the training program.
3. Aptitude Training from 26.11.2018 to 29.11.2018. About 134 final year diploma students from
14 branches of engineering participated in the training program.
The Science Assosiation conducted a Science Expo for the first year students to exhibit their
scientific potentials and they also conducted the "Science Quiz" which was attended by about a
100 students.

Brain Trust has conducted 2 programmes in the following topics. Teledubbies, and
organised a placement based mock interview with three different rounds and a specialized
interview panel to help students face the reality of interviews and they also conducted a two day
workshop on communication skills, which was attended by around 250 students.
Tamil Mandram has conducted 12 programmes in the following topics. Guest lecture (writer
Pamaran),Tamizhodu vilayadu, Nool Veliyeetu Vila, Pattimandram, Vinadivina, Neeya Naana and
Ennai Soll. About 250 students participated in the programmes.
Fine Arts club has organised 6 programmes in the following topics. Creativity by ink wash,
Creative product developments using canvas and glass painting, training -Scope of fine arts and
hands on training pencil and pen art medium, Creative product development. About 150 students
participated in the above events.

Youth Red Cross has conducted two programmes. Event - Mime acting mono colour pick on
POLYFEST – 2018 and workshop on human health and hygiene to help enlighten the people on
the importance of hygiene and its positive impact on us.

Workshop on human health and hygiene
CAP Club has conducted 6 programmes in the following topics. Advertising Contest,
Speak up speak out, Shuffle the word, Situation management, guess the personality and
stress interview. About 80 students participated in the guest lecture. Advertising contest was
organized and about 78 students participated in the above event.

Environment Development Club has conducted 4 programmes in various topics. About 150
students participated in the programme
Music Club has conducted 4 programmes in the following topics. Mibbilo, Audition, Logo
contest, first musical show .About 145 students participated in the above events.
National Service Scheme has conducted 6 programmes.E – Club has conducted 2
programmes .Three days entrepreneurs workshop was conducted and 150 students participated in
the workshop.
POLYTECH DAY 2019
PSG Polytech day 2019 was conducted on March 7, 2019. The chief guest was
Shri.R.Chellappan, Managing Director, Swelect Energy Systems Limited, Chennai. And the guest
of honor was Dr.P.Radhakrishnan, Director, PSG Institute of Advanced Studies. Presided by
Dr.R.Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSG College of Technology.
Outgoing students of various departments, Best sports person, Best NCC cadet, Best NSS
volunteer and the Scholarship winners of the academic year 2018-2019 were awarded.
Explore 2019 magazine was released by Dr.P.Radhakrishnan, Director, PSG Institute of
Advanced Studies.

ROAD SAFETY WEEK CELEBRATION
International Women’s Day Celebration
Children‟s Traffic Park and HONDA was organized “International Women's Day Celebration”
on 8th March 2019, at Children's Traffic Park, Coimbatore.Objective of the event to provide an
opportunity for innovative actions to drive greater change for Women by spreading awareness on
the significance of using helmets while riding two wheelers.

IIF Students Chapter conducted 3 programmes.
The wellness centre is functioning from the current academic year „18-19 and about 160
students were counseled . The following counselors from PSG IMSR were counseled every
week.

The students, who are having difficulty in the following, are counseled and help to improve their performance.

conducted on 22nd June 2018 at I block Hall no.526. 35 girl students attended the Programme.

Under Central Government Mission of Swachh Bharat, WDC jointly with NCC organized Two
Programmes for girl students on 20.09.2018. „Women Health and Sanitation‟ Programme addressed by
Dr.S.Thenmozhi and „Women Education Rights‟ addressed by Dr.Sundaramail to bring awareness about
the health and sanitation and women education about 35 girl students participated in the Programme. Back

VISIT TO FOOD INDUSTRY
One day Programme to visit food industry for Teaching faculty members and supporting staff
members. „Amog Food Products‟ owned by women entrepreneur Ms. Rajeswari at Ramanathapuram. With
a team of 5 members, preparing herbal pickle, thokku varieties and millet sweet balls. „Dhasaa Food
Products‟ owned by women entrepreneur Ms.Damayanthi at Vadavalli preparing sprouts varieties, flour
varieties. 20 of our staff members visited these industries and are useful to the members. Our team
members also visited Maruthamalai temple. Faculty members enjoyed the whole day.

WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION AND VALEDICTORY FUNCTION
Women‟s Day Celebration was celebrated on 01.03.2019 at 4.30pm at I Block 301 along with

ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS
As a part of Women‟s Day Celebration Honda Company conducted Programme on „Road Safety
Awareness‟ for girls students at Children‟s Traffic Park near RTO Office. Girls Volunteers and Members
from NCC, RSP and WID of about 45 girl students along with two faculty members participated in the
programme. Secretary of the programme briefed about the safe riding, importance of wearing helmet for our
girls students. They also conducted events and appreciated with gifts for the winners of an event.

FINE ARTS CLUB
Title of the event : Guest lecture cum hands on training-Scope of fine arts and
hands on training in pencil and pen art medium Chief Guest : Mr.Dhandapani Adaikkalam
HANDS ON TRAINING IN PENCIL AND PEN ART MEDUIM
The guest lecture on scope of fine arts is given by Mr.Dhandapani adaikalam, he handled practcial
demonstration in expression of art in pen and pencil medium ,totally 36 students got benefited in
the event.

Title of the event : Creative product development-canvas and glass painting
Chief Guest : Ms.Vishnu Priya and Ms.Renuka devi
Conducted a workshop on Creative product development in canvas and glass mediums. Acrylic
paints are used to paint in a canvas board and glass colors are used to paint in the glass.Students
were enthusisastically get involved in the practical session, totally 36 studetns got benefited . The
session was handled by Ms.Vishnu priya and Ms.Renuka devi

Technology. Dr.D.Vijayalakshmi, HoD- Apparel and Fashion Design addressing the students Chief
guest motivated the students of Environment development club, fine arts and Apparel Technology
Association. She distributed the certificates for various competition conducted by the club.

Photography contest conducted for both MOBILE and DSLR. There are 9 participants in DSLR PHOTOGRAPHY and 14 participants in MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHY. Top 3 photos selected from both
