1The company: dynamic, experienced, economically strong and reliable
Overview of the tecsis product world
The tecsis product world comprising five
strategic fields of business includes much
more components, systems and services
than one catalogue can contain. Therefore,
this brochure has been published. It offers
a compact overview of our product groups,
technologies and services as well as of their
core data and typical fields of application.
Apart from quick first information, we
thus offer the link to our Internet portal
www.tecsis.de that details the complete
product range of tecsis.
At the same time, we want to invite you
by this programme overview to actively
use the knowledge and experience of our
engineers and product managers. Contact
us and describe your requirements. We are
unrivalled in custom-designed solutions.
Our customers bring value added gained
from highly-developed core competences
into the focus of their business strategies.
From this we derive our idea about tech-
nology partnerships: With our portfolio of
products, systems, consultancy and engin-
eering services unequalled in breadth and
depth for sensor-related tasks in industrial
automation, we follow the requirements
placed by large-scale, medium-sized and
small companies that have a high demand
for technology.
Many years of experience in a lot of key
industries and carefully maintained
customer relations allow us to open
proactively new ways to reach solutions
in numerous fields of applications instead
of merely react. Sensor systems of tecsis
convince by their precision, multifunction-
ality and electronic intelligence.
We also express this consequent market
orientation in the statement that governs
our actions: ONE NAME. ALL SOLUTIONS.
Judge us by this demand – we are looking
forward to your opinion.
WELCOME TO TECSIS YOUR TARGETS DEFINE OUR WAY
2The company: dynamic, experienced, economically strong and reliable
Our focus: The shortest way to an optimum solution
As we are a partner of leading technology
companies, our know-how as a system
and general supplier is facing increasing
demands.
We offer a universal product and service
portfolio for manifold applications in pro-
cedure and process automation by means
of our market structure that is divided into
four technological fields.
EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE: COMPONENTS, ASSEMBLY, SMALL SYSTEMS, COMPLETE SOLUTIONS
In the product lines Force, Pressure,
Temperature, Switch and Service we
provide more than 10,000 components
and systems ranging from standard up to
high-end products. For each kind of tasks,
our technological and economic potentials
guarantee a measurable plus in terms of
reliability, quality and support.
Project work, development and manufac-
ture are closely interlocked. Success-deci-
sive project steps run in parallel according
to the principles of simultaneous engineer-
ing. By means of virtual parts simulations
we compare alternative attempts at a
solution and can find the best possible
technical and economic result and put it
into practice.
In this way, we also help our customers to
be present on the market more quickly and
thus to be successful over a longer period
of time.
A customer’s solution does not always
require a complete new development.
Here, the strengths of our sensor-based
modular concept become obvious.
Universal interfaces and special geome-
tries allow the realization of countless and
extremely cost-effective product variants.
Thus, product components with known
properties are used for solutions that offer
optimum performance values.
Depending on the specific demands, we
deliver modified components, assemblies
ready for installation or complete small
systems in the required quantity with
stable qualities and all this in a very short
time. Advantage for our customers:
reduced part variety, more efficient
procurement, more effective manufacture,
assembly and maintenance.
For the highest operational reliability we
support you both in the product selection
and in the dimensioning as well as in the
integration into your value added chain.
VARIETY AND LARGE SCOPE
3The company: close to the customer, fair, transparent and sympathetic
Three out of our strengths: Special-custom-made
Continuously and with a high technical
demand we extend the variety of our range
in sensor technology. The point that makes
us really better than others is more: tecsis
engineering. We like doing one thing in
particular and are successful – finding solu-
tions for tasks that demand unconventional
ideas. Therefore, managers and engineers
of many industrial areas trust in our com-
petence.
The prerequisite for individual solutions
is comprehensive knowledge of the ap-
plication’s technologies, methods and
processes. Our competence pool has been
developed on the basis of many successful
projects and allows us to go to the roots
of our customers’ structures and proces-
ses. Together with our customers, at the
installation site if necessary, we analyse all
requirements, we define core properties,
analyse mounting and using conditions and
often develop initial approaches to a solu-
tion at that stage.
Thus, we do not only take all the decisive
details into account, but also the project
environment. In our engineering teams,
young engineers combine their innovative
ambition with the farsightedness of the
most experienced team members. Strong
personal commitment and high flexibility
are taken for granted. This is customer
orientation that pays off in the end.
WE GIVE ALL TO REACH A SOLUTION
4The company: close to the customer, fair, transparent and sympathetic
Overcome limits through professional curiosity
All components and systems made by tecsis
are developed and optimized in a target-
oriented and quick manner according
to carefully assessed market expectations.
For this purpose, the dialogue with our
customers gives us fresh impetus and sets
pathbreaking standards.
A partnership-oriented communication,
a broad access to the market in many key
industrial fields as well as a network of
contacts in research and economy ensure
the shortest possible development time so
that our innovations are often launched just
ahead of others on the market.
The most important tasks of our develop-
ment engineers are: continuous mainte-
nance, modernization and extension
of the product programme, integration of
new technologies and materials into the
development of innovative products and
systems. For this reason, we invest about
five percent of our turnover into research
and development tasks. tecsis innovations
overcome technological limits more and
more frequently and open up new applica-
tion possibilities. Curiosity and pioneering
spirit have become a tradition for more
than 80 years.
Our innovative potential becomes obvious
in the turnover share of the new products:
It is about 25 percent.
Less time for finding a solution and higher
performances of each resource – we orient
our product designs and services towards
this expectation of our customers. Thanks
to our modular concept that characterizes
our complete product programme we
ensure that the approved components and
systems of our product range and the new
ones are compatible and interchangeable
to a high extent. In this way, we improve
and extend the service and subsequent
supplies for our customers as well as the
top technical features of their investments
over a long period of time.
And we guarantee that our products are
first quality on the long run: Their preci-
sion, robustness and reliability do not
only reduce the lifetime costs but also
improve evidently the economic efficiency
and availability of processes, systems and
machines.
EXTREMELY PRECISE INNOVATIONS INVESTMENT SECURITY
5The technologies: innovative, process-adjusted, flexible and economically efficient
Technological variety – the key for perfect solutions
The functional principle of the piezoresitive
cell is based on a silicon chip provided with
a pressure-sensitive diaphragm.
This diaphragm includes the resistors of
the measuring bridge. The sensitive silicon
chip and the process medium are isolated
by a stainless steel diaphragm. A silicone
fluid is used for the internal pressure
transmission.
Advantages:
• low pressure ranges are possible
• high output signal (> 100 mV)
• high overload protection
PIEZORESISTIVE MEASURING CELLS
On the basis of a ceramic measuring
cell body, resistors are printed onto the
diaphragm (thick-film technology).
Like in thin-film cells, in ceramic cells
the measuring diaphragm also acts as
an isolation diaphragm to the medium.
An internal transmitting fluid is not
required.
Advantages:
• higher signal deviation than thin-film
strain gauge
• integrated temperature compensation
• higher corrosion resistance than
stainless steel
• chemical diaphragm seals not required
CERAMIC MEASURING CELLS
If a magnetic field acts onto an electric
conductor perpendicular to the current
direction, the electrons will be deflected
by the Lorenz force.
The electron displacement caused by this
effect can be measured as Hall voltage.
The Hall effect is used to determine the
deflection of elastic measuring elements.
For this purpose, the magnet is fixed to
a diaphragm or a measuring spring.
In the Hall sensor, the pressure-propor-
tional signal is converted into a switch
signal. The switching point is set by
displacing the sensor through an adjust-
ment screw.
Advantages:
• no connection between measuring
element and electronic system
• integrated temperature compensation
• small measuring ranges
• low failure probability
• medium resistance at low costs for the
measuring element

6The technologies: innovative, process-adjusted, flexible and economically efficient
Technologies in force measuring
Low space requirements but outstanding
possibilities: Thin-film sensors are the first
choice when complex requirements have
to be fulfilled. Instead of using an adhesive
bond, a sputter process is used to achieve an
atomic bond between the measuring bridge
(thin-film strain gauge) and the measuring
cell body (Ø 7 mm). The thin film sensor can
be placed in the ideal position within a force
flow even with minimal mounting space.
In a laser welding process, it is connected
to the deformation body in a force- and
form-fit manner.
Advantages:
Both cost-effectiveness and maximum
precision through automated production,
constantly high quality, extreme long-time
stability, no creep response, integrated
amplifier. High economic efficiency for
custom-made products and OEM applica-
tions.
FORCE TRANSDUCERS WITH THIN-FILM TECHNOLOGY
Strain gauges operate in accordance with
the principles of piezoresistive effect and
Thomson effect: compression reduces,
elongation increases the electrical resist-
ance. A resistance meander wire – mostly
made of constantan – is welded onto a strip
of foil. This foil strain gauge is bonded to
the actual deformation body into which
the force is led. Cross-wiring of the strain
gauge (Wheatstone bridge) optimizes the
signal output and measurement precision.
Advantages:
The strain gauge systems offer a great
geometric variability at high precision and
are well suited for registering the lowest
forces. The available measuring ranges are
between 10 N and 5,000 kN and above.
FORCE TRANSDUCERS WITH ADHESIVE BONDED STRAIN GAUGES
The hydraulic force measuring technol-
ogy uses a piston-casing combination
provided with different seals that act as
a force transducer. The effective force is
the product of area and pressure. Gauges,
pressure transmitters or pressure gauges
with contact arrangement are used for
indicating the force. Hydraulic load cells
are robust and, depending on the measur-
ing instrument, they reach accuracies of
±0.5% / ±1% / ±1.6% of F.S.
Advantages:
Hydraulic force transducers as autonomic
systems are self-operated.
tecsis offers appliances for hydraulic force
measuring systems that allow the removal
of the measuring instrument under
pressure and without a machine standstill
or fluid loss. Available measuring ranges:
from 0 ... 160 N to 0 ... 2500 kN.

We do not move the world – we make it safer
Our demand: From the force sensor as an
element up to intelligent system solutions
that can be optimally integrated. For this
purpose, we use a broad technological
basis and most modern construction and
simulation techniques, e.g. FEM (finite ele-
ment method), that quickly lead to success.
The tecsis force measurement programme
offers the optimum solution for each prob-
lem. No matter if it is an application in me-
chanical engineering, the use in ropeways
or silos, tecsis takes up the challenges.
Apart from hydraulic and electric standard
force transducers, tecsis additionally offers
numerous customized force transducers.

Force Pressure
Experience, knowledge and carefulness for the highest safety
The history of the tecsis company started
with the manufacture of pressure gauges
more than 80 years ago. Over decades,
we have not only further developed this
technology but we have always searched
for new technological approaches, too, and
on this basis we have designed successful
products. Our range of products includes
gauges and sensors for registration and
indication tasks based on overpressure,
absolute and differential pressure for all
relevant media. Bourdon tubes, diaphragm
and capsule elements are used as mechan-
ical pressure absorption elements.
Electronic pressure gauges and switches
base on thin-film technology, ceramic
or piezoresistive semiconductor sensors.
The media-adjusted material used for
housings and pressure connections guar-
antees corrosion resistance, tightness and
protection against mechanic and electronic
systems. Special constructive details make
the units insensitive against vibrations and
shocks.
Moreover, special housings or heavy duty
designs are also available for rough envi-
ronmental conditions.

Our large range of electrical and mechani-
cal temperature measuring instruments,
such as resistance thermometers, cable
resistance thermometers and thermocou-
ples as well as bimetal-, gas actuated- and
contact thermometers, are continuously
maintained and technically perfected.
Advantage for our customers: Solutions
for all requirements from one source.
For standard measurement tasks just as
for multifunctional switching solutions
– the range structure consisting of modu-
lar, mechanically and electrically compat-
ible components guarantees the highest
flexibility, if customer-specific solutions
have to be provided very quickly and within
a limited cost frame.

tasks reliably even in situations in which
the installation conditions, long distances
or signal paths make the connection to
process control systems difficult or almost
impossible.
This is the field for the switching solutions
developed by tecsis.
Powerful products of the technological
fields force, pressure and temperature are
the hardware basis and deliver signals.
By means of integrated electric or electron-
ic components, these signals are further
processed and used to directly influence
processes/methods.
The programmable switches are particu-
larly efficient and can be used for a lot of
purposes. Apart from our standard pro-
gramme, we quickly develop exactly fitting
solutions at low costs for special complex
switching tasks by using our tecsis sensor
system modules, as OEM products also in
each required size.
In the course of controlling and monitoring
industrial processes, compact on-site
solutions are increasingly taking over
sophisticated tasks of intelligent signal
processing.
The decentralized use of switching sys-
tems and components allow to fulfil such

31Quality management and certificates
Documented safety: Certificates and quality management
Sensors and gauges of tecsis ensure relia-
bility, economic efficiency and life quality
in many fields of industry and in normal
life. Our products and systems are almost
always the invisible stars that are expected
to operate reliably and powerfully over
many years.
Therefore, we set very high standards in
the development, manufacture, distribu-
tion and service and submit our company
processes to new optimizing rounds and
internationally approved tests and audits
over and over again.
At tecsis, all product-oriented processes
have been evaluated by the DQS (German
Association for the Certification of Mana-
gement Systems) and are certified accord-
ing to ISO 9001:2000.
Our customers profit from the result of
this conscientiousness: highly reliable
products, quicker innovations, economic
advantages and our continuously increas-
ing international presence.
In addition to this, we are able to create
or get an unbroken chain of evidence for
materials, manufacturing processes,
measurement reports and official tests and
approvals even for the highest demands;
thus sophisticated problem solutions can
be certified.
