COMPARATIVE LITERATURE Comparative Literature offers modules in the study of a wide range of literature from antiquity to the modern age. Texts which are not originally in English will be studied in translation and no knowledge of a foreign language is required. Comparative Literature can be studied as a Single or Joint Honours degree. This programme of study is also available as a four year degree incorporating a year abroad. The year-abroad programmes (Single Honours and Joint Honours) are designed to offer students a unique opportunity to experience cultural diversity at first hand, to develop intercultural competence and to benefit from the exposure to different approaches to the study of comparative literature. Destinations will be in various European countries and in North America. A foreign language will not be required as the teaching language will be English, but it is recommended that students take advantage of their stay abroad to learn and/or practise a foreign language. For further information please contact, Dr Axel Stäehler, [email protected]. If you wish to discuss module options please contact Dr Patricia Novillo-Corvalan ([email protected]).

WORLD LITERATURE World Literature offers modules in the study of a wide range of literature from antiquity to the modern age. Texts which are not originally in English will be studied in translation and no knowledge of a foreign language is required. World Literature can be studied as a Single Honours degree. This programme of study is also available as a four year degree incorporating a year abroad. The year-abroad programmes are designed to offer students a unique opportunity to experience cultural diversity at first hand, to develop intercultural competence and to benefit from the exposure to different approaches to the study of World Literature. Destinations will be in various European countries and in North America. A foreign language will not be required as the teaching language will be English, but it is recommended that students take advantage of their stay abroad to learn and/or practise a foreign language.
