ARWtr 2004

WELCOME TO ARWtr 2004 On behalf of the Organising Committee, may w e give you the warmest welcome to ARWtr 2004 and to Vigo. This meeting is devoted entirely to transformers. ARWtr 2004 appears in it first edition, shaped as unique event in the world covering the three main areas related to transformers: High Frequency Transformers; Power Transformers; and Instrument Transformers. An international group of outstanding transformer experts , the key speakers, will present and stimulate discussion on contemporary economic, design, diagnostics and maintenance aspects of modern transformers. We would like to thank all participants and committee members who have made important contributions. Especially to section chairmen, for their invaluable effort by reviewing the proposals and organising of the programme. In addition to the technical sessions, a number of social events have been arranged. On Thursday evening we will have a Reception at Pazo de Catrelos (Castrelos´s Galician Place) and Friday evening the Dinner at Restaurante el Castillo (Castle’s Restaurant). After workshop days, on Sunday 31, an optional Santiago de Compostela trip is organised for all participants who whish. We hope you find the Workshop enriched technically and scientifically, and stimulating for making many fruitful personal contacts for future collaborations. Also, we whish that you enjoy your visit to the Vigo area and Galicia autonomous country.

Intervals sunny and cloudy days with some showers. TO GET VIGO Vigo is well connected to the world by means of a good network of motorways, its airport (Peinador) and its railway station. By train (http://www.renfe.es/): the train station is located in the city centre just near Hotel IBB Ensenada. There are daily express and "Talgo" trains to Madrid and Barcelona. By plane (http://www.aena.es ): Peinador airport is 10 kilometres from the city centre. The price of the taxi from Peinador to city centre is around 20 Euros. It has a wide range of scheduled flights to Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Valladolid, Paris and Frankfurt, as well as charter flights. Santiago de Compostela (Labacolla airport: 90 km far by motorway) and Porto-Portugal (Sa Carneiro airpot: 100 km far by motorway) are useful international Connections. These last two airports are linked by buses. For further information: http://www.vigo.org

ARWtr 2004

SOCIAL PROGRAMME On Thursday evening 28 October a Reception will be held at Pazo de Castrelos at about 8.00 PM. Pazos (Palaces) are stately mansions built in the country either as permanent or temporary residences for Galician noblemen and illustrious families. They were mainly built during the 17th and 18th centuries and their dimensions, together with the coats of arms they display, towers, sun lounges, chapels and the lush gardens which surround them, make them outstanding. On Friday 29 October, the Dinner will be held at Restaurante el Castillo at about 8.00 PM. Restaurante el Castillo has an exceptional view over the most beautiful of the Rias (natural estuaries formed by mountains, beaches and sea) which is named Ria de Vigo. The Dinner Menu will be the well world known fresh shellfish and fish of Vigo, directly form the Ria. POST-EVENT TRIP On Sunday 31 October, a post-event trip will offer to participants and accompanying people. It represents a unique opportunity to visit the exquisite scenery of Santiago de Compostela. Santiago an UNESCO-World Heritage City is a precious jewel in stone. From the 9th century onward, European Christendom was to fix its gaze on Compostela. There, an ancient tomb is recognized as that of the Apostle St. James the Greater. The Romanesque Cathedral of Santiago, begun in 1075, is the acme of the temples of pilgrims. Nowadays, it is the administrative capital of Galicia. This year, Santiago celebrates its first (Holy Year) Xacobeo 2004 of the new millennium in honour of Saint James. For further information: http: //www.xacobeo.es - http://www.turgalicia .es SECTIONS

The main subject of the ARWtr 2004 is Transformers, which is divided in three important areas or Sections:

- High Frequency Transformers (HFT) - Power Transformers (PT) - Instrument Transformers (IT) Each SECTION is coordinated by a Chairman:

- High Frequency: Prof. Ertan - Power Transformer: Dr. Kazmierski - Instrument Transformer: Prof. Lesniewska SESSIONS

The Section consist of Sessions, which are collected into three kind of sessions as following: Oral Sessions (45 minutes) For lectures of key speakers. Each lecture is a oral session itself conducted by one/two session chairman/en. In the oral session the key speakers will deliver fixed lectures on
