I’ve learned a lot from The Sharks Academy! Growing up, it was all just about relying on talent and a natural feel for the game but I soon realized that there is so much to learn and that there are a lot of technical aspects to the game of rugby.

The Sharks Academy helped me to work on my position specifics and my conditioning, which was something I wasn’t exposed to at all previously. The Sharks Academy is a great institution for any young man who wants to make a career out of rugby but also at the same time work on tertiary education to ensure that rugby is not your only option.

- FRANCO MARAIS

The Sharks Academy is a great institute because it simply gives one an opportunity to play rugby and study at the same time. When chasing the dream to be a professional rugby player, you need to have a plan B and that would be to have a diploma or degree. Not many academies offer that in South Africa.

AT THE SHARKS ACADEMY YOULEARN ALL THE FUNDAMENTALSOF RUGBY, AS WELL AS THE POSITION SPECIFIC SKILLS WHICH IS WHAT YOU NEED TO GO ALL THE WAY! - TERA MTEMBU

Along with the rugby focused training and mentoring, The Sharks Academy gave me advice on how to deal with mental aspects of the game too. I received media training and advice on how to be a professional athlete. Academically they give you a platform to study and put an emphasis on furthering your education as well as your rugby career and skills.

I feel like this is such an important part of the game and is especially valuable as you are coming out of high school and into professional sport for the first time. The Sharks Academy was a vital step in my career and helped form me into the player I am today.
