Take charge of profitability and increase the ability to compete.

. Boost control of your network traffic, lower costs and improve revenue assurance . Drive new revenue growth by building new multi-sided transaction, engagement & business models. . Tap into opportunities to differentiate by building new customer centric capabilities to improve customer experience . Maximize the value of customer data, billing relation ships, preference information, social network connectivity, high customer trust ratings and existing infrastructure assets. . Relook at disparate systems that are unable to scale and cope with volume spike

Key Take Aways. Share global innovative strategies in the data space that have reaped significant profitable revenue growth. . Whilst tiered pricing is one of the ways to address disproportionate capacity usage and associated returns, it is a dump pipe play according to some analysts. Hear key findings from analysts and operators.. How operators are leveraging on key assets in a smart pipe play and moving into uncharted areas. . Wholesale businesses are smartening up. What are some of the smart moves by the carriers in the whole sale space?. The real time business model is now. How it can help position operators profitably as enablers on the value chain, driving customer centricity and enhancing the customer experience.. How low cost commodity hardware can be used to slash CAPEX & OPEX without compromising on performance. . Ultimately, strategies that help drive top and bottom line growth.

Drive Growth. Transform the Future

Today’s 450 million mobile broadband subscriptions are generating more data traffic than the voice traffic from 4.6 billion mobile subscribers worldwide. 1-3% of smartphone users are consuming 40% of some operators’ network capacity. Whilst data may be leading the mobile traffic usage stats, there have been no corresponding revenue increases. Data is not being turned into profitable business models. The cost of supporting the growing demand for data is also rising rapidly, disproportionately to the revenues generated from its traffic and usage. Where is the money?

Session Roadmap

1.30pm – 2:30pm Panel Discussion: Unlocking the potential of data

As challengers and unconventional players come into the fray, service providers in the communications industry have an opportunity to either become a “dumb pipe” or a real “enabler” to other stakeholders in the value chain. As usage grows and becomes more complicated in nature (tied to different user profiles, devices, network elements, different policies, etc), data strategies are adapting and being redefined. We look forward to a dynamic discussion covering a variety of aspects of this top-of-mind area. Moderated by Dr Karim Taga, Managing Director, Arthur D LittleFeaturing Panelists > Nitin Bhat, Partner, Frost & Sullivan, Joseph Waring, Group Editor of telecomasia, Chari TVT, CFO Celcom Axiata, Ashwin Jaiswal Head - IT Business Consulting & Practice (TME), Reliance, Kashif Jan, CIO Vietnamobile

3.30pm – 4.00pm The promise of BSS data: business intelligence comes of age Jennifer Fellows, VP Product Management, Charging, Billing and Mediation

Operators have long known that there is a wealth of data locked up in their Business Support Systems. But it has been difficult or expensive to access, or hard to use. Jennifer discusses how the treasure trove may be unlocked.

2.30pm – 3.00pm Operator Success Story: How the creation of convergent, advanced BSS architecture reduced CAPEX & OPEX and helped reduce operational complexity and facilitated the rapid launch of new revenue generating IP-based third generation services cost effectively. Benoit Hanssen, Chief Technology Officer, PT Hutchison CP Telecommunications

4.00pm – 4:30pm Strategy Track: Enabling New and multi-sided Business Models through a Smart Wholesale Strategy Hassan Iftikhar, VP Product Management, Wholesale

New technologies, increasing competition and emerging market requirements have led to evolving business models in the wholesale space. There are significant benefits to be gained by combining the different business models of an operator’s wholesale business. Hassan Iftikhar explores some of the possibilities.

4.50pm – 5.20pm Optimising Business performance for Growth Simon Dodsworth, TeliaSonera

TeliaSonera Group is the world’s first operator to commercially launch Long Term Evolution (LTE) service. Teliasonera International Carrier has been a user of InterconnecT OR for 10 years and during this period they have enjoyed substantial business growth. This presentation describes how InterconnecT OR actively helped them achieve this growth without the need to sacrifice margin.

5:20pm – 5.40pm Strategy Track: The Real time Business Model: Monetizing next generation services in the always-on world – Siobhan Ryley, Product Marketing Manager

Service providers’ core competencies enable them to confidently provide real-time network support based on years of experience in scalable, highly available environments. Equally, the wealth of available customer data enables them to offer real value along the supply chain, helping to avoid the dreaded ‘dumb pipe’ situation. Online charging, associated service delivery platforms and policy management are needed in order to enable the real-time business processes that make this happen. Positioned between the wholesale and retail billing platforms, online charging systems contain the vital information that answers the questions, in real-time, that service providers need answered. Importantly, they also help meet the needs of upstream and downstream customers.

5.40pm – 6.10pm Strategy Track: Exploiting new opportunities in Roaming to drive growth and lower cost - Hassan Iftikhar, VP Product Management, Wholesale

For mobile operators roaming has become increasingly important due to the expansion in foreign travel leading to a higher demand for service counterbalanced by regulatory pressures on prices. A look the latest market trends and how operators can take more control of their roaming business to bring down operational costs, improve visibility and ultimately drive higher returns from their roaming customers.

10:30am – 11:00am Chill and Revitalize Solution Showcase by IntecVenue: Solution Lounge @ Foyer

“Mobile data traffic compound annual growth from 2008 to 2013 is forecasted at 120% but revenue growth for non messaging data over the same period will grow at 16% CAGR. That is not a sustainable business model” (Analysys-Mason, 2010). Part of the response to closing the data revenue gap lies in reducing costs, which can include examining current technologies to evaluate their savings potential. Surprising cost savings can be achieved, with significant ROI, with a technology refresh of both hardware and software in an often-neglected area

9.30am – 10.00am Boost Control of Network Traffic through a technology refresh that significantly improves revenue assurance and reduces both CAPEX and OPEX - Jennifer Fellows, VP Product Management, Charging, Billing and Mediation

Smartphones are arguably the ‘must-have’ handsets for mobile operators and are valued, not just because users love them, nor because of its technical excellence, but also because of the huge variety of content and applications available through the apps stores. Smartphones are all about personalisation, and every owner configures his device with a unique mix of services and content. The app store is the primary channel for users to peruse and download content, and for developers to reach an increasingly large pool of active customers. The lesson for operators is that the developer community must be considered a key component of their strategic view, because making compelling content available to smartphone users begins a virtuous cycle: consumer spend increases, attracting more developers, which stimulates customer stickiness and … more spend! How can the operator empower, enthuse, incentivise and retain the community of creative content and application developers?
