Welcome from theConference Chair

Welcome to the 22nd annual ANZAM conferencehosted by the University of Auckland BusinessSchool.

The choice of theme for this year’s ANZAMconference, Managing in the Pacific Century, hasonce again created a space in which we can applyour scholarship in diverse ways.

The high quality and breadth of papers submittedfor review is testimony to this. The resultingprogram with its 16 streams for papers, complemented by the professional developmentworkshops, ensures you will have the opportunity toengage with a wide range of approaches.

The keynote presentations by Professor Anne Tsuiand Professor Kulwant Singh will provide importantforums for us to engage further with the theme withthese internationally renowned scholars.

A significant dimension to the conference is theopportunity to catch up with colleagues from acrossAustralia and New Zealand and more widely.

The conference program, the complementary socialprogram and the pleasing surrounds of the AucklandBusiness School should ensure you are able to do thiswith ease.

Enjoy ANZAM in Auckland.

It is with pleasure that I welcome you to the 22ndANZAM Conference in Auckland, New Zealand.

The pattern and pace of economic transformation inthe Pacific Rim is unprecedented and presents newchallenges and new opportunities for organisationsthroughout the world.

The role of managers, management and leadershipwill be fundamental to this transformation.Irrespective of the sector, the industry or the form ofthe organisation, the ability to respond and adapt in aworld increasingly dominated by Asia-Pacific alliances, innovations and enterprise will be essential to anorganisation’s competitive success.

These issues create an excellent thematic backgroundfor the scientific program, which will be supported bya social program in a city that has everything to makea delegate’s stay enjoyable.

I look forward to meeting with you during theconference.
