PURCHASING ENVIRONMENTDescription: This unit can be conducted in 1 day and covers an overview of all units, Procurement concepts and terminologies, the strategic functions of Procurement and relevant legislation.

OPERATIONAL PURCHASINGDescription: This unit can be conducted over 2 days and incorporates an overview of all components such as basic Procurement concepts, Procurement decisions and procedures, the identification and selection of sources of supply, specification development, Procurement methodologies, purchasing of goods and services, receival and inspection, maintenance of documentation and quality assurance.

SPECIFICATION AND TENDER DEVELOPMENT Description: This unit can be conducted over 2 days and incorporates the development and dissemination of a request for offers to fulfil procurement requirements. It includes interpretation of procurement requirements, planning of procurement activities, appropriate methodology for specifying the requirement, further refinement of the Contract Management/Risk Management/Procurement Plans, development of appropriate assessment tools and the formal request for offers. This module also includes the presentation of numerous templates for assistance in the development of the specification and standardised DTF approved documentation.

TENDER EVALUATION Description: This unit can be conducted over 2 days and covers the receiving and selecting offers as a result of a formal request for offer process and includes but is not limited to the receipt and evaluation of offers, availability and selection of financial investigation reports/tools/referees, review of “whole of life” costs, selection of preferred Providers, formalising of contractual arrangements and debriefing the successful Contractor, unsuccessful Respondents and other stakeholders. CONTRACT MANAGEMENT Description: This unit can be conducted over 2 days and incorporates training in developing strategies to achieve Procurement objectives through reviewing issues surrounding the management of Contracts. The unit incorporates a review of the Contract process, strategies for Contract Management, understanding the documentation, document control procedures, Contract transition, Contract operation, amendments, conflict resolution, funding, partnering (strategic alliances), Contract completion/extension/renewal and project evaluation.

DISPOSAL OF GOODS Description: This unit can be conducted over 2 days and reviews the effective disposal of strategic and non-strategic assets. It further focuses on gaining a return through transparency of all sales and includes identifying assets for disposal, developing and implementing an asset disposal strategy, evaluating asset disposal methodologies and appropriate audit and legislation requirements.
