a copy of your resume. Don’t ask for a letter, just make a 10 minute appointment and ask faculty to keep you in mind when they hear about positions. Go over your scientific highlights briefly.

Update faculty when something great happens (fellowship funded or a paper accepted). Do you have a group mailing list for such good news?
