Last year was an exciting year for us, and we are super excited for this year. Last year, I invested a lot in new equipment and technology in the practice, and that is going to continue in 2018. One of the things I have done is incorpo- rate the Hu-Friedy Airflow technology. I am primarily using it on peri-implantitis cases and for peri-implant mucositis. In the airflow we can use glycine powder that is less abrasive to the tissue and to the implant surface. I feel like it is a huge game changer in our practice and the ability to treat these patients. Speaking of peri-implantitis, sub-gingival cement is one of the biggest culprits. I recently came across a new study, which is a systematic review of the literature by Quaranta A, Lim ZW, Tang J, Perrotti V, Leichter J. Implant Dentistry 2017 June;26(3) 465-474. They found residual cement to be strongly associated with peri-implant mucositis which is a risk factor for increased probing depths, crestal bone loss, and peri-implantitis. They preferred the use of zinc oxide eugenol cements to resin cements, especially in patients with a history of periodontal disease. www.eoperiodontics.com Eastern Oklahoma Periodontics Professionalism, Integrity, & Quality Winter 2018

Case Presentation 1: Treatment of gingival recession with Perioderm donor tissue. In this case tooth #’s 10 and 11 were treated. The roots were thoroughly cleaned on the buccal and a pouch was made using intrasulcular incisions. The Peri-oderm was placed and the tissues were coronally advanced over the graft.

Case Presentation 2: The patient presented with severe recession and mucogingival defect on tooth #25. In this case a sub-epithelial connective tissue graft was performed. The tissue was harvested from the palate. A lateral sliding pedicle was done to cover the graft. This patient came in for another procedure, so the post op photo is over four years out.
