Mood disorders are the most prevalent psychiatric condition, accounting for 25 percent of patients in psychiatric inpatient settings, 65 percent of psychiatric outpatients and as much as 10 percent of all patients seen in nonpsychiatric medical settings. The Professional Program in the Treatment of Mood Disorders is a series of workshops that review state-of-the-art assessment and treatment of this clinical problem. Gain an understanding of current issues in the field of mood disorders, and become better able to make assessments, informed referrals and other professional recommendations.

Prerequisites for Admission

There are no specific degrees or course requirements for the Professional Program in the Treatment of Mood Disorders.

Curriculum and Completion RequirementsThe curriculum comprises 2 required workshops and 3 elec-tives for a total of 3.0 ceu (30 hours of instruction). At least one elective must focus on a specific population group (for example, adolescents, older adults or women).

Be sure to indicate on the Extension course roster that you wish to receive continuing education units (CEUs) for the course. This will initiate a record of your attendance

There is no deadline for completion of the courses in the program. However, requirements may be updated based on new developments in the field of study; we recommend completing the curriculum in a timely fashion.
