WORK EXPERIENCE

Registered Nurse Interventional Radiology Unity Point Health Methodist, Peoria, IL. 2/2014 to 08/12/2016

Support patient preparation and education, circulate during procedures, and recover patient from moderate sedation. I am especially skilled at starting IV’s in difficult targets and frequently requested to assist multiple departments. The culmination of my clinical experience and advanced education has prepared me stay focused in stressful critical care situations. I am lauded by coworkers for having an infectious can-do attitude, exceptional organization skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task that exceeds expectations.

Staff Nurse and Charge Nurse Intensive care and Emergency Department Proctor Hospital, Peoria, IL, 2010 – 2013

Applied clinical experience to meet critical care needs of patients, precept new staff and served as charge nurse. I collected and analyzed census data into Excel spreadsheets to help management develop a staffing matrix that best served our patient population. I also volunteered as Super user to support staff during implementation of Paragon electronic medical record.

Corporate trainer and Staff Nurse A Plus Home Health, Peoria, IL. 2004-2009.

Monica L. Dunn, APN (continued) 4 passionate about nurse education and excelled in the role as Corporate trainer. Registered Nurse PICU, NICU Pediatric Intermediate care, Level II nursery, General pediatrics and Primary 2nd shift charge nurse for orthopedic surgery team OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL, 2004-2009

Teaching is a role that I embrace whole-heartedly. As a preceptor in the Pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) I emphasized the importance of organization and preparation and how the two impact one’s ability to function effectively in an emergency. I have a knack for simplifying difficult concepts. For example, I helped nurses to understand what an electrocardiogram represents by tying the EKG tracing back to cardiac conduction and muscle physiology. My efforts were effective, as nurses were able to analyze an EKG, describe the physiology, and accurately predict and positively affect patient outcomes by intervening appropriately to avert problems. As a charge nurse in the O.R, I managed staffing, circulated surgical procedures, collaborated with physicians, anesthesiologists, and DME vendors to assure safe, efficient, cost-effective patient care. Supported open-heart, general surgery, Pre-Op and PACU to provide safe patient care without sacrificing throughput.

Licensed Practical Nurse A Plus Home Health, Peoria, IL., 2002-2004
