Architectural Intern [summer]Cooperated with partner Chris Grabe in addition to communicating with other architects, graphic designers and project managers. Assisted on schematic design drawings, final construction documents, high rise development, historical preservation, award nominations and government issued operation, using Auto Cad, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Design-Build PMAs a lead architect of a primarily student run operation, it was my focus to integrate function and purpose within each element of engineering and sustainable design. The design focus was on natural fusion, a way of rethinking energy and fusing the natural and built environments. As a leader of the architecture team, it was my responsibility to balance aesthetics, integration of technology, materials, and schedule. I saw myself develop into this leading role, as I gained knowledge in integrative design, green technology, materials; a lesson learned only first had through mentors and first hand construction, leadership and design.

Architectural Intern Collaborated with both partners in residential design details, full construction drawing sets, and 3-D models representing additions and renovations to existing structures, historical monuments or residential houses.

e m e r g e n c y s h e l t e rf i r s t yea rJOHN C DAN IELS The Emergency shelter was a project set aside by partner Max Bond to explore the creativity of several of the interns during the summer of 2006. The program was to design a transportable, modular shelter out of cardboard. My solution was to build on the properties of the cardboard and focus on the compressive strength, by using the cardboard as its own framework and glue. Becoming the walls, structure and entire enclosure, using nothing but the 4 different designed panels.

Upon arrival at the once DBB, now DBBA, the John C. Daniels school was up for several awards, so as a new intern I assisted in the graphics of several of the elevations, site plans and floor plans to be published on be half of Davis Brody Bond [Aedas].

I worked along side Kelly Powell to design the graphic layout of all schematic presentations for the Renaissance Ballroom and Theater Complex. Mainly focusing on the comprehensive booklet. Also I collaborated with Ms. Powell with the layout and design of the lobby for the residential tower along the theater complex.

The Eagle Academy for Young Men was the beginning of my experience at Davis Brody Bond Aedas in understanding the layers, systems and technicality of a final submission construction drawing set. I worked along side the entire team of Eagle Academy to procure the final set. I worked on drawings that included: interior elevations, door schedules, window schedules and details, elevations and ceiling details. What I gained from this assignment was how to quickly adapt and understand the detail of a building while still processing and understanding the project itself. I had to simultaneously draft ceiling details for the multiple material changes, while comprehending the RCP and speculation documents for the first time.

The summer of 2008 was another staple summer at Davis Brody Bond Aedas, after exploring lessons in graphic design and construction documentation, the third summer I was opened up to learning and participating in the design and schematic documentation of the Cornell Laboratory and Cryogenic Plant. Working on a team of five individuals I was in charge of all the sections in the lab. The sections were important to show the technicalities in the elevations changes of both the site as well as the building as well as the variations in lab rooms, experiment tracks and occupational amenities.

During the several months on the Cornell project I was opened up to sitting amongst engineers from ARUP, as well as clients from Cornell and several other professional fields. This was an education that I would never receive at a University and was very receptive to learning while working. This was one of my most memorable internships while at Davis Brody Bond Aedas.

Lenox Terrace Concept Plan Centralized Below-grade Parking Study - Scheme ASite Plan

Lenox Terrace is an ongoing project at DBBA, where I collaborated with Clover, on parking research and analysis to purposed multiple parking configurations and phases for the surrounding residential towers. Solving the need for automated parking, self parking or valet, and what numbers would be associated with certain levels, spaces and phases. All of this information was sent to the client to be able to decipher a proper cost effective solution. Other time spent on this project was in the conceptual zoning of the ground floors, separating into commercial and office.

The Frick collection was one of the last projects I worked on as an architectural intern at Davis Brody Bond Aedas, however, was a first in many experiences while interning at their firm. It was a first where i was collaborating with partner Carl Krebs as well as a first for working with the Landmarks Preservation Committee. Along side several other interns, we were sent numerous times to the site to properly measure and document the existing historical building, and then return to illustrate and draft accurate dimensions of the existing conditions. This final assignment at DBBA was a great lesson in presentation, documentation and historical preservation.
