Key questions when planning a lesson

What do I want my students to know ?

How will I know when they know it?

How do I engage my students?

What activities will be effective in order

to gain understanding?

Writing an objective or goal for lesson

An objective basically says what students should know and

what they should be able to do with the academic

content/curriculum. The objective should be:

Match students learning

Should be able to be assessed or measured

Should be posted as “kid-friendly”

Should follow the school’s curriculum

Keep the WHO, HOW, AND WHAT in mind when planning

Who= student

How= assessments/activities/lesson

What= content or concept being taught

Sample Kid-friendly Objective

butterfly using a graphic organizer.

What: the life cycle of a butterfly
