Production Process of Front Cover

• I firstly put the picture I took for the front cover of my magazine and positioned it to where I wanted to have it. I then created the masthead for the magazine and changed the effects to fit the genre and the colour scheme I have chosen.

I then created the coverlines for the magazine using the text tool and resized and positioned all of them. I also changed the colour to the additional information underneath to red to meet the colour scheme and genre. I then made rectangle shapes to separate each coverline from one and other and copied three times and positioned them.

I then created the main coverline and changed the colour to red and made the letters capitals. I made a drop shadow for the letters to make it stand out more and help grab the attention of the reader. I also used a drop quote underneath the main coverline as a convention I found of front covers used this feature a lot. Using a text tool i entered the date of the magazine and the positioning statement underneath the masthead.

I created a shape using the shape tool of a circle and added a rocky effect to the circle as it fits the genre and make it stand out more. I then added a shadow and a bevel to make it stand out more. I then used different colours in for the text as I used yellow. I made the “plus” as a graphic feature to intise the reader even more into reading the magazine. This draws attention to the band in the shape as its the band I interviewed for the DPS.

Next I added the strapline to the magazine cover. I started this by creating a rectangle using the shape tool and using the colour of black to fill it. This made it easier to view any text that would be going on it and matched the colour scheme of the magazine and genre. I added the text “Exclusive interview with AC/DC”. As the band uses a logo of a lightning bolt to make their band be identified. I created this by using the line tool to draw the shape outline and then used the paint brush to colour it in.

I then added a drop quote using the text tool and then created 3 black rectangles for the “Noel Gallagher Speaks out” so it stands out more. This is the final for my front cover.
