Our Product Selector will enable you to consider factors relevant to you, but as a starting point you should have the following information available:

V40P Automatic Air VentThe unique V40P air inlet is supplied with all standard FTP-V U3 centre pivot and FPP top hung and pivot windows. Activated by changes in air pressure, the use of such an air inlet improves the room environment and saves energy, while reducing heat loss, risk of condensation and carbon footprint.Through continuous adjustment of the air flow duct size, the V40P is effective in all weathers and climatic conditions. Also available in V50 version for special orders.

Premium Timber QualityA combination of specially selected redwood pine and the latest timber lamination techniques gives FAKRO roof windows exceptional dimensional stability. All timber components are double vacuum preservative treated and finished with three coats of non-toxic, clear, acrylic lacquer which providesan exceptional finish and requires minimal maintenance. Externally, timber is covered with a UV and weather resistant aluminium cladding which, in addition to the standard finish, can be supplied in a wide range of additional colours to special order.

Operating Handles and LocksBy positioning the handle in the base of the frame, windows are easier to operate. They can therefore be positioned higher in the roof to maximise availability of natural light. Handles can be closed in a choice of positions in order to provide added ventilation, while locking mechanisms are strengthened for maximum security.

FAKRO roof windows offer the highest level of security. NO OTHER ROOF WINDOW MANUFACTURER HAS THE topSafe SYSTEM.

Toughened glass and sash reinforcement ensure that our topSafe windows provide total peace of mind. FAKRO roof windows achieve at least Class 3 level of safety in accordance with EN 13049 for the entire window including glazing.

The principal advantages of the FAKRO topSafe system are:— Unique fixings that prevent deliberate damage

to hinges and forcing of the sash.— Strengthened timber and galvanised steel

locking reinforcement.— Additional steel reinforcing profile in the lower

part of the sash, which completes the internal security design.

This level of safety and security means that topSafe windows will, if inadvertently stepped on, withstand the weight of an individual. As further evidence of FAKRO roof window quality, they were also the first to be awarded the ‘Police Safety Certificate—Live Safely in Holland’ as long ago as 2002.

TYPES OF ROOF WINDOW

Centre Pivot Windows FTP-V U3 FTP-V/C U3 FTU-V U3 FTP-V U3 Electro FTT U5 Thermo PTP U3 The centre pivot design is the most commonly used variety of roof window. Their pivot mechanism is in the centre of the frame, enabling rotation through 180° for the outer pane to be cleaned or for the window to be locked open. Centre pivot windows were the first in which topSafe® technology and the automatic V40P vent was fitted as standard. They can be equipped with either internal or external accessories.

Dual Top Hung and Centre Pivot Windows FPP-V u3 preSelect FPP-V/C u3 preSelect FPu-V u3 preSelect PPP-V u3 preSelectDual top hung and centre pivot roof windows can be opened in either of two ways, by traditional centre pivot operation or from hinges in the top of the frame. Centre pivot rotation is possible through 180° in just the same way as standard centre pivot windows, while top hung operation enables the sash to be opened by up to 35° to provide an uninterrupted field of view. Changing the method of opening can be done in seconds using a sliding switch in the side of the frame or, with the FDY-V U3 Duet proSky a top catch. Dual top hung and centre pivot windows can be equipped with either internal or external accessories.Note: Windows of size 06 or larger may also be used as escape windows.

Side Hung Roof Windows FWR u3 FWR/C u3 FWl u3 FWl/C u3 For easy access to the roof and to provide means of escape, side hung roof windows can be opened by up to 90°, and can be either right or left hand opening. A gas piston prevents slamming and helps the user when opening the window. Side hung roof windows can be equipped with internal accessories only.

Conservation Windows Window codes are those for the standard window plus /C e.g. FPP-V/C U5 preSelect.Conservation roof windows are designed to suit planning requirements in conservation areas or for sensitive development of traditional buildings, particularly those with slate roofs. They have a characteristic vertical sash bar down the middle of the window and black outer metal cladding and flashing. Internally, their appearance is otherwise the same as their standard window equivalent. Conservation roof windows are traditionally used with internal accessories only. Recessed flashing for this window are available. Note: Please ensure conservation flashings are ordered with conservation roof windows.All FAKRO roof windows, with the exception of the L-shaped combination vertical windows, are available in conservation style.

High Pivot Windows FYP-V u3 proSkyHigh pivot roof windows offer increased glazing height without the need to increase frame width. They open in the same way as a standard pivot window, but with the axis above the centre. They provide an improved field of view to centre pivot windows while retaining the same intrinsic benefits.

Duet High Pivot Windows FDY-V u3 Duet proSkyDuet High Pivot windows have two sashes in a single frame, the upper sash being opened in the same way as a standard high pivot window and the lower sash being non-opening. For safety, the lower window’s internal pane is also laminated. With a maximum height of 250cm, this type of window eliminates the need for vertical combinations. The laminated glazing used in FAKRO windows is Pilkington Activ™ self cleaning glass.

Duet Windows FTP/D FNP/D This type of window is typically installed beneath a standard roof window and is available in opening and non-opening version.

L-shaped Combination Bottom Windows BXP L3 BVP L3 BDL L3 BDR L3L-shaped Combinations are used to take the glazing area from the roof into the vertical wall. They offer an alternative to traditional dormers, providing a much bigger overall glazing area at far lower cost. L-shaped combinations use any standard window in the roof and a choice of tilt, tilt and turn and non-opening windows in the wall. They are characterised by a sleek new frame and handle design.

Smoke Ventilation Window Systems FaKSV1 FaKSV2 FSPSmoke Ventilation Roof Windows (EN12101 2:2003) are electronically operated and activated by a smoke sensor built into the control unit. A signal from the sensor triggers automatic operation of the motor, while the window sash protects the roof opening against the effects of a strong lateral wind. The most commonly used Smoke Ventilation Roof Windows are of Centre Pivot operation with laminated glazing. Either a single FTL-size 10 window (FAKSV1) or two smaller size 7 FTL windows (FAKSV2) can be purchased. The FSP is an aerodynamic smoke vent system with hinges in the base of the frame.

Access Roof Lights WGT WGI WGI/C WLI/CAccess Roof Lights are predominantly used in uninhabited lofts to provide a source of natural daylight and easy access to the roof. They are available in either Side Hung or Top Hung operation and both can be made in conservation style.

Light Tunnel Systems SLT SRT SFPLight Tunnels enable natural daylight to be channelled to dark or windowless interiors. Rigid and flexible ducting options are available to enable routing around obstructions where necessary. Flashings are included in the price, though you should state whether you have a slated or a tiled roof when ordering. A flat roof Light Tunnel system (SFP) is also now available.

Flat Roof System EFWThe EFW Flat Roof window system differs from other roof windows as it is supplied with flashing. It can be fitted on roofs with pitches up to 15° and with a U-value of 1.4W/m²K is one of the most thermally efficient flat roof windows currently available. It is supplied with laminated glass as standard, provides the same standard of thermal efficiency as the standard FTP-V U3 centre pivot window.

Electrical Electronic operation adds the finishing touch to any roof window installation and means that ceiling height need not be a problem. FAKRO supplies a range of modern electronic control systems to operate windows, blinds and smoke/heat escape systems. In addition to enabling you to operate internal Venetian and blackout blinds and external awnings with ease, you may also choose options which activate window closure using rain or wind sensors.

Glazing OptionsIn addition to standard glazing specifications, you can choose from any of the following glazing types:

Decorative stained glass—patterns are on the inner pane, for ease of cleaning, with 200 patterns available or designs to bespoke requirements.Obscure O —using a frosted outer pane.Reflective H —acts to reflect the sun’s rays to offset solar gain.Tinted W —in blue, brown, grey or green.Easy maintenance Activ glass, laminated L3 —two 3mm sheets of glass with a 0.38mm layer of PVB between them. This provides added safety and reduces UV penetration by up to 95%. The active coating absorbs UV, causing a reaction on the glazing surface which breaks down and loosens dirt. The surface also causes rainwater to flow evenly over it, taking dirt with it.Energy Efficient U5 —triple glazing with a 4mm toughened outer pane, two 4mm toughened inner panes and a 10mm gap filled with inert gas between each. Gives a glazing U-value of 0.5W/m²K.Sound-proof R1 —Using a toughened glass outer pane and a laminated glass inner pane, the laminated pane is coated with sound-proofing epoxy resin to provide a Rw of 41dB. Sound-proof windows do not include an air inlet.Security P, P4 —2 sheets of 4mm glass with a 1.52mm layer of PVB between them, security glazing also reduces UV penetration by up to 99% and provides excellent acoustic properties.

Special FlashingsRidge combination flashings enable windows to be positioned and joined either side of the ridge at pitches between 15° and 55°. They are linked together by the top element of the flashing, enabling light to be brought into the roof space in the most effective manner. This provides the opportunity to maximise the skyward view and to minimise the effects of shadow. These flashings can be supplied in either aluminium, copper or titanium-zinc.There are also available ERV flashings for joining roof windows at the ridge ESA, EZA-P and EHA-P flashings for changing the roof window installation angle EHV-AT Thermo flashings for additional thermal insulation. KMV and KMV-L flashings for mansard roofs.

Light TunnelsIn order to supply interior with natural light where there are no opportunities to install roof or vertical windows, an effective solution can be a Light Tunnel. Thanks to the light tunnel, the natural light gets into the building illuminating its interior. Dimly lit interiors without access to the natural light can become light and comfortable to use.There are two types of light tunnels available: SRT with rigid light transmitting tube and SLT with flexible light transmitting tube. Flashings enable installation of light tunnels in nearly every roof covering and even in flat roofs.

Balcony WindowThe new FAKRO twin sash Balcony Window enables the upper sash to be opened by 45° via top hung operation, while the lower sash has a side balustrade on either side which slides out to create the balcony. The large glazing area also brings an exceptional level of natural daylight to be brought into the room.

Golden OakFAKRO’s ‘golden oak’ veneered finish will shortly be available as an additional option for pivot and top hung and pivot preSelect windows. The technology used provides a detailed and realistic scratch resistant finish.

Loft LaddersFAKRO has a wide range of high quality folding, 3 or 4-section pine loft ladders, all with integral frame and spring-assisted hatch door. They have been designed to provide comfortable and safe access to lofts, are easy to fit and have no visible fixings when installed. Most utilise a 36mm thick insulated hatch door finished on each side either in white or beige, to provide a U-value of 1.1W/m²K. The LWF also has a 30-minute fire resistance rating.
