WHEREAS: Public- Rail Safety Week is to be held across Canada from April 27 to May 3, 2015; and
WHEREAS: It is in the public's interest to raise citizen 's awareness on reducing avoidable accidents, injuries and damage cause by collisions at level crossings or incidents involving trains and citizens; and
WHEREAS: Operation Lifesaver is a public/private partnership whose aim is to work with the ra il industry, governments, police services, the media and other agencies and the public to raise rail safety awareness; and
WHEREAS: Operation Lifesaver has requested Council adopt this resolution in support of its ongoing effort to save lives and prevent injuries in communities, including our municipality.

There are currently just under 500 people in BC waiting for an organ transplant, and more than 5,000 British Columbians that have already received the gift of life through organ donation since 1968; and
there is an increasing need to raise awareness of the shortage of organ donors, and to acknowledge the families that demonstrate their compassion by sharing the precious gift of life with others; and
there are volunteer groups within our community, like the BC region of the Canadian Transplant Association, that are dedicated to the support of pre and post-transplant patients, and to informing the public of the need for organ and tissue donations.

Child Find British Columbia, a Provincial member of Chi ld Find Canada is a non-profit, registered charitable organization, incorporated in 1984; and
The mandate of Child Find British Columbia is to educate children and adults about abduction prevention; to promote awareness of the problem of missing children, and to assist in the location of missing children; and
Child Find has recognized Green as the colour of Hope, which symbolizes a light in the darkness for all missing children; and
Child Find's annual Green Ribbon of Hope Campaign will be held in the month of May.

WHEREAS: Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling neurological disease affecting an estimated 100,000 Canadians and more than 8,000 British Columbians; and
WHEREAS: Multiple sclerosis symptoms vary widely and may lead to problems with numbness, coordination , vision and speech, as well as extreme fatigue and even paralysis; and
WHEREAS: there is no known cause of, prevention of, or cure for multiple sclerosis; and
WHEREAS: BC will continue to lead the way in multiple sclerosis research , through one of the world's most renowned multiple sclerosis research facilities at the University of British Columbia; and
WHEREAS: Together we will find ways to enhance the quality of lives for people affected by multiple sclerosis and to find cure to end MS;

WHEREAS: October 16th is Feral Cat Day, a day of recognition to draw attention to the millions of feral cats, born wild and living in every country and every community, including ours. These cats live in colonies outside of human contact and can become good pets only if rescued very young ; and
WHEREAS: October 16th is a day to promote the most humane and effective method of reducing feral cat populations by raising public awareness of an important program called Trap/Neuter/Return or ''TNR"; and
