I*ll< THE NAVAJO NATION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF JANUARY 23-27,2011 AS NAVAJO NATION EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEEK WHEREAS, The Navajo Nation recognizes the empowerment of local communities to address emergencies through collaborative efforts of the Navajo Nation government, its divisions, departments, programs and other respective governmental agencies and entities; WHEREAS, The Navajo Nation acknowledges the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and their efforts to train local communities to be prepared for emergencies and how to respond to an emergency; in order to alleviate hardships from natural emergencies such as recent storms, encourages local communities to come together and "BE READY"; WHEREAS, The Navajo Nation has identified several community Chapters located in the remote areas of the region to incur hardship from the inclement weather leaving families stranded with no means to address their health, safety and welfare; and WHEREAS, The Navajo Nation and the Division of Health, Division of Community Development and Division of Public Safety, herein is offering training in coordiaation with the Inter-Tribal Council of Arizona (ITCA) on the National Incident Management System (NIMS) to inform local communities what they need to know to "BE READY" at the following locations: January 25 - Chinle Agency - BIA Conference Room and Northern Agency - Gadii'ahi Chapter; January 26 - Fort Defiance Agency - Whitecone Multi-Purpose Building, Eastern Agency - Crownpoint Chapter House and Western Agency - Tuba City Local Governance Support Center. NOW, THEREFORE, I, BEN SHELLY, President of the Navajo Nation do hereby proclaim the week of January 23 through 27 as "NAVAJO NATION EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEEK".
