PROCESS TREE FOR HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION

First, the need of the road is assessed. Topographical surveying is done 100mts RHS and LHS along the road. Different tests to determine traffic capacity, O&D surveys etc are done.(If road is being

modified; rebuilt) Environmental factors are considered. Original Ground Level (OGL) is assessed-below the sub grade. If it’s a rocky area, over a

water body etc. Engineering and Index properties of the soil are considered. Project Details and designs are made by the CLIENT i.e.; in this case, NHAI Project is awarded to the contractor with budget assessment. Project Management Consultants (PMC) work as monitors for the work hired by Contractors.

(Note: PMC is not controlled by contractor) Independent Engineer works under govt. For monitoring project independently.

CONSTRUCTION: (Follow the pics uploaded in Face book for details)

1. Firstly, O&G is done for shifting of utilities such as pipes.2. Embankment layering is done.3. In our project 3 embankment Layering of earthen soil total of 500mm thickness is

considered to be sub grade.4. Over it a 200 mm GSB (Granular Sub-Base) 5. Followed by base course of WMM Mix (Wet Mix Macadam)6. Over it bituminous concrete for surface course.7. Different Plants such as Concrete Batching Plant (Concrete for Culverts, minor and major

bridges), Wet Mix Macadam Plant, Crusher Plant(For Crushing Aggregates), Hot Mix Plant(For Bitumen) are assembled at various places through the chainage of project considering the norms and factors.

8. Culverts, Minor and major bridges are simultaneously constructed.
