5. PLANT MATERIAL, I.E., TREES, SHRUBS, AND GROUND COVERS, MUST BE APPROVED BY THE CITY'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE PRIOR TOINSTALLATION. PLANT MATERIALS INSTALLED WITHOUT APPROVAL MAY BE SUBJECT TO REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT WITH RELATED COSTSINCURRED BY THE CONTRACTOR.
6. FINAL LOCATIONS OF PLANT MATERIALS ARE SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE CITY'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE PRIOR TO INSTALLATION.PERFORM THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES BEFORE BEGINNING PLANT PIT EXCAVATIONS:
A. TREES - CHALK OR STAKE LOCATIONS BEFORE DIGGING HOLES.
7. NOTIFY THE CITY'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE AT LEAST SEVENTY-TWO (72) HOURS IN ADVANCE TO PERFORM A SPECIFIED SITEOBSERVATION TASK. INSUFFICIENT NOTIFICATION TIME GIVEN TO THE CITY'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE MAY REQUIRE THE SITE VISIT TO BECANCELED, OR POSSIBLY MAKE THE CONTRACTOR RESPONSIBLE TO COMPENSATE THE CITY FOR OVERTIME.
8. THE CONTRACTOR MUST FURNISH PLANT MATERIAL FREE OF PESTS, POOR CONDITION, OR DISEASE. PLANT MATERIAL MUST BE CERTIFIED PESTAND DISEASE FREE.
9. IF CONFLICTS ARISE BETWEEN THE ACTUAL SIZE OF PLANTING AREAS ON-SITE AND THOSE INDICATED ON DRAWINGS, CONTACT THE CITY'SAUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE FOR RESOLUTION. FAILURE TO MAKE SUCH CONFLICTS KNOWN TO THE CITY'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ATIMELY MANNER MAY RESULT IN THE CONTRACTOR'S LIABILITY TO RELOCATE PLANT MATERIAL OR INSTALL NEW PLANT MATERIAL AT THECONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE.
10. FILL AREAS WITH STABILIZED DECOMPOSED GRANITE FROM GAIL MATERIAL (CORONA, CA), MINIMUM 3" DEEP. DECOMPOSED GRANITE SHALL NOTBE APPLIED WITHIN 6" OF THE BASE OF TREES.
11. ORGANIC MULCH SHALL BE APPLIED IN A MINIMUM 2' RADIUS AROUND THE TREE BASE.
12. PROVIDE A TREE STAKE AND MOCK-UP ON-SITE FOR THE CITY'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE'S REVIEW PRIOR TO PERFORMING TREE STAKING.
13. ENSURE THAT TREES ARE NOT PLANTED TOO DEEP RELATIVE TO FINISH GRADE. TREES PLANTED TOO DEEP WILL BE REPLANTED BY THECONTRACTOR AT NO EXPENSE TO THE CITY - REFER TO SPECIFICATIONS AND DETAILS FOR PROPER GRADE ELEVATIONS. ENSURE THAT NOEXISTING OR NEW PLANT MATERIAL OR ROOTS COME IN CONTACT WITH LIME STABILIZED BACKFILL.
14. INSTALL PLANT MATERIAL WITH ITS BEST SIDE FACING THE PREDOMINANT VIEW OF THE PUBLIC WHERE POSSIBLE.
15. DO NOT PLANT TREES WITHIN 10 FEET OF GAS, WATER OR SEWER LINES. CONTACT CITY IF MEETING THIS REQUIREMENT DIFFERS FROMLOCATIONS INDICATED ON DRAWINGS.
16. REFER TO DRAWING DETAILS FOR REQUIRED PLANTING AND STAKING METHODS.
17. INSTALL LINEAR ROOT BARRIERS ("DEEP ROOT" OR APPROVED EQUAL) FOR ALL TREES WITHIN 5'-0" OF CONCRETE CURB, CONCRETE PAVING PERCITY STANDARDS AND SPECS. REFER TO MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION SPECIFICATIONS.

21. PRE-SELECTED OR "LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT - TAGGED" PLANT MATERIAL MUST BE INSPECTED BY THE CONTRACTOR AND BE CERTIFIED PEST ANDDISEASE FREE. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S OBLIGATION TO WARRANTY ANY AND ALL PLANT MATERIAL PER SPECIFICATIONS.
