    Procedures for Lube Oil Commissioning

    Hydro-static Test

    Pressurized piping of the Oil System will be hydrostatic tested as an assembly with oil to

    1½ times the pump discharge relief valve set pressure. The test pressure will bemaintained at least 3 minutes without any observed lea!s. "on#pressurized lines suchas suction$ relief#valve#return$ and %ac! Pressure &egulator 'alve return will be chec!edfor lea!s during flush and operational testing.

    System Flush

    Prior to operational testing$ the Oil System will be independently flushed with oil until ama(imum particle count in accordance with Table )#* of +P, *1- is achieved. The pumpdischarge temperature will be controlled at 1 / 0 and the customer connections willbe re#circulated bac! to the reservoir with temporary shop piping. ,ntegral lube systemswill be re#circulated bac! to the reservoir after the last control valve$ but before thee2uipment bearings. Temporary shop piping will include a pressure tap$ flow turbine$

    metering valve$ and a 1 mesh screen. +ny oil lea!s will be corrected and the OilSystem will be verified to the respective P, diagram and ,S+ data sheets.

    Operational Test

     + four#hour operational test of the Oil System will be performed under normal operatingpressures and flow rates with the same temporary shop piping used for the flush. Theheader temperature will be controlled at 14 / - 0 prior to start and during this test.)uring the -#hour operational run$ the following will be conducted5

    1. %efore running this test all permissive starts shall be chec!ed and set pointsconfirmed to the loop drawings.

    4. 6ith the main or au(iliary oil pump running under normal conditions$ the Oil

    System will be chec!ed for lea!s.

    3. 6ith the main or au(iliary oil pump running under normal conditions$ thecapability of the control valves to maintain system stability will be demonstratedby logging the following data at 4#minute intervals during the -#hour operationaltest.

    a. 7ain Oil pump delivery pressureb. +u(. Oil pump delivery pressurec. 8eat 9(changer inlet and outlet temperatured. ilter differential pressuree. 8eader oil pressure :downstream of filters;f. same procedure will be performed on the au(iliary oil pump and relief valve. Thefull accumulation pressure will be steel stamped on flange rim of the relief valvesafter the operational test.

    . 6ith the main oil pump operating under normal conditions$ a filter and coolerswitchover will be performed. 7inimum header pressure will be recorded to

    ensure that it does not drop to the Start +u(iliary Oil Pump set point.*. 6ith the main oil pump operating under normal conditions$ the au(iliary oil pump

    will be started :two#pump operation;$ ran$ and then stopped :two to one pumpoperation;. 7a(imum and minimum pressure limits at the header and customerconnections will be recorded to ensure that relief valves are not lifted and thatdelivery pressures do not drop below the midpoint between normal operating andshutdown conditions. 6hile both pumps are in operation the > open of %ac!Pressure &egulator 'alve will be visually chec!ed and recorded.

    ?. 6ith the main oil pump running under normal conditions$ an automatic pumpswitchover will be performed by tripping the main motor. The au(iliary oil pumpwill be started automatically and return the system to normal operatingconditions. The minimum pressure limits of the customer connection :lube oilsupply; will be recorded to ensure that delivery pressures do not drop below themidpoint between the normal operating and shutdown pressures.

    @. 6ith the main or au(iliary oil pump running under ma(imum operating pressure$the internal side#to#side lea!age of the continuous#flow transfer valves will bemeasured. Aea!age will be reported in liters per minute$ however$ if no morethan 1 milliliters can be collected per minute$ lea!age will be reported as zero.

    pressure with very little pressure drop in the seal system pressure. There is apotential for low seal oil system pressure :So do not perform this test with themain compressor running;. :7onitor system pressure with +ST Trac! datacollector;

    1. Switch seal Oil Pumps :a; "ormal system operation$ then trip the main seal oil

    pump off#line. This test causes an e(tra draw on the supply oil system$ thesystem will operate at a lower pressure$ but it should still be high enough tosupport the oil supply re2uirements. The bearing oil supply valve should start toclose to compensate the system re2uirements. There is a potential for a low oilpressure trip when performing this test. :b; "ow with both seal oil pumpsoperating$ turn off the au(iliary seal oil supply pump. This causes a suddenreduction :pressure wave; in the oil supply system. The Pressure shouldincrease in the supply oil system. The bearing oil supply valve should close tocompensate :7onitor system pressure with +ST Trac! data collector;
