To solve this problem, it is first necessary to determine what it is asking. I can tell that the equation given is a position function because it talks about WHERE the object moves (“along the curve”). Looking at the second sentence, I see that I need to find the acceleration equation. Acceleration is the second derivative of a position equation, so I can use the power rule to find the second derivative. Finally, I can plug 7 seconds into my derived equation and solve for y’’.
