Our faith community dates back to 1886 when we were
originally located on Main Street West and called St. Mary’s
of the Lake and the cornerstone of the existing Cathedral was
laid in 1904. The history of our parish is recorded in the
memories of thousands of people who built our community.

Our Parish Mission Statement
We, the members of the Pro-Cathedral
of the Assumption community, believe that we have
been called through Baptism to live the Good News of
Jesus Christ under the patronage of Mary, our Mother.
We accomplish this by proclaiming the Word,
celebrating the Sacraments, & reaching out to others.

Pope Francis’ JULY Prayer Intention
For LAPSED CHRISTIANS
That our brothers and sisters who have strayed from the faith,
through our prayer and witness to the Gospel, may rediscover the
merciful closeness of the Lord and the beauty of the Christian life.

In the first reading, Zechariah prophesies about the king who is to come – just, meek
and riding on a humble donkey. He will bring peace to the nations and have dominion
from sea to sea. The second reading reminds us to not live according to the flesh, but
to live according to the Spirit. In the Gospel, Jesus invites all who labor and who are
burdened to find rest in him. Each day, we pursue earthly goals such as a better job or
a bigger house. If we’re not careful, our heroes can become those who have achieved
such things. But today’s readings invite us to know the true peace that comes from
following the ways of a humble Savior, who sought only to do his Father’s will.

JOIN THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
In 1882, Father Michael J. McGivney gathered a small group of parishioners in St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Conn. His purpose was to establish a group of men, united in their faith and to provide for Catholic families in times of need. This was the beginning of the Knights of Columbus.
Guided by the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity members of the Knights of Columbus work to overcome the hardships that people face in their parishes and communities. We are a growing organization - more than 1.9 million members - and for over 130 years have committed to overcome the challenges of the need for food, shelter, warm clothing and financial security, as well as provide aid for widows and orphans in our local communities.
Joining your local council #1007 of the Knights of Co-lumbus can change your life. As a Knight, you have the opportunity to strengthen your parish, give back to your community, and grow in your faith.
New or transferring members can contact Mike Joly at 495-1792
Knights of Columbus Council #1007 Executive Meeting at 6:30 PM and General Meeting at 7:00 PM on the first Wednesday of each month beginning again in September at St. Peter’s Church in the Parish Hall. Refreshments served.
