It was then that Pro-Art launched its Study Group under the leadership of Prosthodontist Dr. James Cutler and other leading specialists.

We would like to continue to facilitate the dental professionals and offer them a platform to learn and share the latest innovations, product techniques, new procedures, discuss latest developments, etc. with the support and mentorship of leading clinicians in order to enhance their practice, raise the standard of patient care and achieve the highest level of patient satisfaction in their community.

We are pleased to announce the launch of 2018-2019 sessions of the Pro-Art Study Group for Advanced Dental Studies (PSGADS) under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Marshall Freilich.

The Pro-Art Study Group plans to organize interactive sessions covering all areas of dental technology, including implant dentistry, cosmetic, occlusal teaching, digital dentistry, orthodontic treatment options, digital photography, support staff training, etc.

Mirjana Salkovic is a graduate from College of Dental Technology - Zargreb, Croatia as a Dental Technologist. Mirjana was trained in internal-colour-layering technique by Mr. Peter Blackwood in Canada and was self-trained in ceramic techniques. Mirjana was trained in Europe and obtained her Canadian RDT in 1976.

Mirjana started Pro-Art Dental Laboratory in 1977, the laboratory “Where Art & Science Meet”. The founding principles were quality, service and total support for doctors. Pro-Art is an advocate for innovative technology. Mirjana has been known for her ceramic work and has been one of the pioneers of cosmetic dentistry, trained with Dr. Jackson for inlays and onlays and with Dr. Robert Nixon for veneers. Mirjana continued to follow significant scientific breakthroughs in dentistry and was one of the first few technicians to use Branemark System in Implant Dentistry.

In the mid 90’s Pro-Art began training our clients with the use of Digital Photography to take shades from computer screen. She has directed the company from its inception to its current position as one of the leading dental laboratories in Canada.

Mirjana’s vision has always been to combine science and art within the dental industry while incorporating European precision with North American youthful aesthetics. The vision inspired her to strive and achieve her Master Aesthetic Technician Certification from LVI.

Dr. Ho completed his dental training at the University of Toronto. He then completed a hospital dental residency jointly at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Chicago. Dr. Ho returned to the University of Toronto for his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Anesthesia. Dr. Ho has taken post-graduate medical education in Sleep Apnea Diagnosis and Treatment.

Dr. Ho has focused expertise in the area of Obstructive Sleep Apnea as well as CT-based 3D treatment planning for dental implants, corrective jaw surgery and airway size determination. Dr. Ho’s 3D treatment planning expertise has allowed him to participate as a lecturer, legal consultant and professional resource to other dental specialists performing their own surgery.

Dr. Ho founded the Credit Valley Oral Surgery Sleep Treatment Clinic in 2009. The clinic has been a trusted provider of coordinated care between dentists, family

physicians, sleep physicians and CPAP providers for 6 years.

Dr. Ho’s facial airway imaging technology and deep knowledge of both surgical and non-surgical solutions in the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea allows patients to have individualized solutions to their sleep breathing problems. For those that have failed CPAP and oral appliances in the past, Dr. Ho has developed a Maxillomandibular Advancement (MMA) procedure that does not require the patient to wear braces and has successfully cured patients of their Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Dr. Ho has access to level 3 home sleep testing that does not require the patient to visit a sleep lab.

Dr. Ho is currently involved in research and product development in the area of Obstructive Sleep Apnea treatment, Implant Surgical Navigation and 3D printing.

Implant dentistry is changing at an explosive pace. Den-tists can often feel overwhelmed in trying to assimilate large volumes of new information, and in remaining comfortable and confident that their patients are benefiting from the most up to date technologies available.

In the face of rapid changing protocols, the foundations for presenting the implant option for patients, evaluating the clinical situation and formulating an interdependent, multidisciplinary strategy that can lead to successful and profitable implant supported restorations remain relatively unchanged.

The objective of this seminar is to review fundamental principles that will enhance the comfort and confidence of the dental office team to present the implant option to their patients, and to establish cost estimates that are reliable while minimizing the risk of cost overruns that can result in financial losses.

We will discuss methods for patient presentation and improving patient acceptance of implant therapy, the role of cone beam CT imaging as a diagnostic tool, the relative advantages of screw retained restorations versus cement retained restorations, and other topics that are aimed to-ward increasing the role of implants in your practice.

Digital technology has changed the way dentistry is practiced. Contemporary dental practice has the opportunity to deliver treatments to patients within a spectrum from completely analogue procedures to fully digital diagnostics, treatment planning, guided surgical placement and provision of restorations.

This seminar will discuss the incorporation of digital technologies that can enhance the restorative phase of implant dentistry, including the use of intraoral scanners and the digital fabrication of provisional and final restorations.

The laboratory has to play an active role in understanding the requirements for each case. For a dental laboratory, being digitally active is one of the essential needs to be part of the team in restoring an implant case as most of the communication is done digitally. We can use the latest technology to acquire 3D facial scans and combine them with the digital impressions so that the digital alignment of the patients’ anatomy can be recorded.

Trial mockups can be manufactured based on the 3D data so that the esthetic and occlusal management can be done before finalizing the restoration.

The method of communicating with a digital dental laboratory through screen-sharing is one of the most advanced workflow optimizations. We will discuss how the laboratory can interact with the dentist so that a predictable restoration can be provided.

The incorporation of digitized imaging, both radiographic and intraoral, allows the implant surgeon to perform a level of treatment planning and surgical execution with a preci-sion unmatched by conventional analogue methodologies.

The delivery of a prosthetically driven implant therapy re-mains the core principle behind the utilization of a guidance system that incorporates the prosthetic treatment plan into the production of the surgical template.

This presentation will discuss the relative indications for guided implant surgery, demonstrate cases where guided symptoms are implemented, and review the relative advantages and disadvantages of the technology as they exist within the current state of the art.

Dental implant treatment has progressed well beyond the esoteric. Today’s patients present at our offices with the expectation that not merely will their implant treatmentprove to successfully integrate, but are esthetic. The question to be asked is not whether have we oversold implant treatment. Instead, our charge shall be to consistently meet, if not exceed, our patients’ expectations.

We must begin by re-evaluating our concept of success beyond merely achieving integration or the implant is still in our patient’s mouth! The marketplace demands natural esthetics as the benchmark of true success!

This seminar will provide guidance on timing the age to place implants, vectors of continued jaw growth, treatment sequencing, number of implants, hard and soft tissue grafting, site optimization and finally provisional and definitive restorative design. Each of these factors must be carefully considered before commencing implant treatment, especially in the esthetic zone. Finally, examples of surgical treatments to salvage esthetic failures will be presented. The cost of failure is truly too high!
