Con HatziliasMelbourne inventor, entrepreneur and marketerMarketing Manager, Tennis Victoria
Con Hatzilias is a Melbourne inventor, entrepreneur and marketer. A Bachelor of Business (Marketing) graduate from RMIT, and with a passion for sport, he has worked in various sales, product, brand and marketing management roles in the sports industry.
Con is inspired by creativity, personal growth and contributing to the community. Inventing the ‘zygo’ football boot technology, where he applied the principles of biometrics to footwear, Con has appeared on the ABC New Inventors, SBS World Sport, and in international and local press.
Whilst the challenges of launching a new technology in a market dominated by the multinationals are significant, Con is actively working on its commercialisation in both local and overseas markets. He is committed to seeing the idea evolve from “my study to the international playing fields”.
In his ‘day job’ as Marketing Manager at Tennis Victoria, he established and has been running a marketing internship program for the last five years. Mentoring tomorrow’s marketers with “real work in real time” has been a source of enjoyment and fulfilment.
Con also created the Sustainaball project, perhaps the world’s first structured tennis ball reuse and recycling program. Promoting a sustainable future, health and connecting communities, the project received State Government funding and featured on the front page of The Age and at the Sustainable Living Festival.
He is also presently driving the development of a Tennis Victoria Foundation, to contribute to the creation of welcoming and quality tennis facilities for the benefit of present and future generations, and the development of Victoria’s young players.
