THE DALTON ACADEMY IS AN INDEPENDENT preparatory school serving kindergarten through 12th grade. We are an inclusive learning community dedicated to inspiring per-sonal excellence and educating children for life.

At the Dalton Academy, we strive to prepare students to participate in the discover-ies and challenges of the future with the foundations of wisdom and personal discipline. Our school is dedicated to cultivating the unique nature and potential of each student and is committed to building a school community enhanced by racial, cultural, and socio-economic diversity. We provide a nurturing and caring environment enhanced by a low teacher-student ratio. We are interested in a personal learning approach that incorporates individual attention, hands-on experiential learning, and a challenging and well-round-ed curriculum.

In the process of inspiring and educat-ing children for life, we believe that students must learn how to think, to solve problems, to capitalize on strengths, to make good decisions, and to become effective com-municators. In preparing students to live comfortably in an ever-changing and di-verse society, we wish to move students beyond tolerating people different from themselves to engaging all people as valu-able members of a global society.

SCHOOLProfile

PRIVATESCHOOLGuide

The Sinert School 1234 Potomac Ave. ● Bethesda ● (240) 555-5555 ● sinertschool.org

IN 1926, FORTY-FIVE BOYS dressed in orange and black sweaters arrived for their first day at The The Sinert School.

Today, Sinert is one of the largest independent lower and middle schools in Maryland—and a leader in the field of education. A transition of that magnitude does not happen without bold vision, hard work, and tremendous generosity.

An enduringly great school like Sinert—a school that is built to last—must combine un-wavering commitment to core values with the pursuit of continuous improvement.

We know that the world our graduates enter will be increasingly fast-paced, increasingly global. We know they will be faced with complex national and international issues involving technology, energy, government, finance, economic development, environmental sus-tainability, medicine, and human rights.

This turbulent world will need leaders who are both intellectually nimble and mor-ally centered—individuals who can adapt to change, learn on the fly, and stay open to new ideas, while never losing their ground-ing in honesty, integrity, and courage.

The Sinert School has a crucial role to play in preparing these leaders. Our pur-poseful mission of academic rigor and character development is as relevant today as it was at our school’s founding.
