Survey

• Once I had completed my contents page, I did a survey to get my audiences comments on it.

• One problem when I doing my production work was trying to fill big gaps in. Therefore, I wanted to get my magazine audiences ideas on what they would like to see on the contents page.

BEFOREThis is my target audiences views-

-”I think this is a very interesting layout to a content page. I think it looks good, the best thing is the text to image ratio” (Jordan Deacon Age 16)

-”I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I feel that something is missing” (Saahirah Nazeefah Age 17)

THIS WAS A COMMON STATEMENT THAT OCCURRED, THEREFORE I ASKED THEM WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE ON THE BLANK GAP.

Here are some of their opinions:

-”I think a QR could would be ideal for the space, they are used in my favourite magazine – NME” (Adam Laing Age 23)

-”I think a big quote from a singer would look great!” (Shane Swales Age 18)

AFTERThis is my contents page after I had completed changes. Here are some of my target audiences opinion-

“It looks exactly like the contents page of a magazine that I would read. It has got that NME vibe to it!” – Anum Munir Age 18

“The live photographs look amazing, I love the QR reader. I would definitely enter that competition” – Lucy Watson age 22

“The layout is very neat, it is not to overcrowded, but had enough all the information it needs on” – Louise Thomas age 20

Double Page Spread Feedback

Survey

• Once I had completed my contents page, I did a survey to get my audiences comments on it.

• When doing my double page spread I was unsure what would appeal to my target audience. I decided to go for a more sophisticated look and the majority of my target audience liked the use of colour. Overall I decided to gather their opinions so I could make a double page spread that they would like to read.

BEFOREI was unsure of the codes and conventions my DPS lacked, therefore I asked various people from my target audience.

“To me it looks like a normal double page spread, the article looks interesting. However I think it looks a bit dull without bright colours”- Olivia Wilson age 18

“I like the colours scheme it makes the magazine look professional, however I would definitely adjust the spacing between letters and have the polaroid image going all the way to the top.”- Megan Yates age 17

“The article is a good read but I want more information included!” – Evan Farrington age 19

AFTERThis is my magazine after the improvement my target audience suggested.

“The polaroid photographs make your double page spread different from others- I like the creativity!”- Noshin Aqeel age 22

“It looks like a real double page spread, I can’t wait to read the interview” – Freya Sedgwick age 17

“The long image of the artist is a really good taken image, I also like the smaller images”- Molly Gallagher age 18

Conclusion

• Overall the improvements and opinions I received from my target audience helped me understand what my audience desire a indie/rock magazine to be like. This helped me learn from mistakes earlier on in my production work but these will now not be repeated in the future. This made me realize that when it comes to producing a magazine it is all about what the target audience want.
