Updating and upgradingPrintVis is a leading company offering tailored ERP solutions to organizationswithin the graphics industry. PrintVis always concentrates on developing new, streamlined, and brilliant ideas that simplify users’ experiences. One of their latest intelligent solutions was fi rst dreamt up in December 2015 at their annual conference, which took place in Gdansk, Poland.

On one of the evenings, while on a sightseeing tour, Peter Tijsma, PrintVis System Developer, got talking to a Swedish partner about how diffi cult a process it was to carry out an upgrade. Peter Tijsma said, ”Maybe we can develop something that makes it easier!” After this, the development of an upgrade tool began and, over the summer, work continued on the project during PrintVis’ internal meetings.

Eighteen months after the conference in Gdansk, PrintVis has been using the new upgrade tool in eight upgrade projects - fi ve in Denmark, two in Sweden and one in Finland. ”We don’t have that many upgrade projects yet,” says Peter Tijsma, but he is optimistic for the future.

How does it work?The whole idea behind the upgrade tool is to enable PrintVis’ partners to upgrade their customers to the latest version of PrintVis’ solution, in an easy and straightforward way. And, as part of this, reports are now upgraded using ForNAV. Customers get a test license and can see their solution running in a test environment before they fi nally decide to upgrade their reports. Previously,this process took a long time and it was signifi cantly more expensive.

Now PrintVis’ partners, in just a few steps, can get the system up and running and show the customers the result. The system demonstrates how the old reports will look in the new version, using the customer’s own data. This makes it possible for customers to see how their reports will look using PrintVis and ForNAV, and they can therefore get a feel for it before they switch over to the upgraded version.
