Floor levels - from 3 below ground to 55 from ground level. Theseact as an internal sti�ening diaphram, working with outher internalstructural elementsto counter gravitational pull. In particular they prevent overturningin seismic conditions.

Denser Red grids on the outer diagrid structure are the areas which recieve the most stress, and thence are more compressed than other areas. Overstressed areas are doubled or quadrupled in density.Similarly the larger spacings indicate areas of less stress, hence the structure is economically thinned to avoid material waste and over-engineering. Nevertheless every diagonal grid has the same structural properties.

Additional mesh layers are for imposed loads, in particular seismicactivity. CCTV is located in an area of signi�cant seismic activity so that even in the most severe seismic event, quanti�ed as a levelthree (oroccurrence once every 2475 years) the building may experience severe structural damage but would not collapse. In particular there were concerns that the high use of structural steel would lead to reduced ductility, which was not the case as member thickness was tuned at a local level to increase �exibility.

Vertical structural elements in loop structure are indicative of the internal vertical structure which is a secondary support system to the ‘continuous loop’

The L shaped base section anchors and greatly sti�ens the towers atthe highest structural demand point.

Both towers lean against each other at an angle of 6 degrees, propped by the L shaped overhang which cantilevers from the tower.

The primary structure of CCTV is the multilayered external‘continuous tube structure’, accounting for 55% of all materialswhich has been broken down, separated from �oor plates in thisdrawing.

The diagonal grid is a re�ection of everyday forces and exceptionalloading conditions. The separations in density reveal the vastvariations in load.

The outermost steel diagrid frames the facade of glass panes.Thefacade, roofs and undersides assist in dispersing the load.
