Principal’s Message On our final week at school for 2020, we
would like to send Christmas wishes to our
community. We hope that the festive season
finds you recharging your batteries and
enjoying the company of family and friends.
Rejoice and celebrate your achievements in
2020 and bring in 2021 with optimism for a
new year filled with possibilities. We will see
you ready for learning on Friday 5th February
2021, the first day back for students.

BARHAM PUBLIC SCHOOL
Covid Funding As we all know, 2020 has been a tough year.
This is particularly so for our students and
teachers who have risen to the challenges in
a disrupted year that included seven weeks
of remote learning due to COVID-19, and in
some areas, that came on top of bushfires
and floods.
For our students, this has been an unsettling
time.
The government and department have
recognised this with the announcement of a
$337 million program aimed at ensuring that
schools can identify students who would
benefit the most from intensive support. This
will be tailored to their requirements to
ensure that students’ educational outcomes
continue to improve in 2021.
The 2021 COVID intensive learning support
program will provide small group tuition for
students who need it most across NSW
primary, secondary and specialist schools.
All public schools across the state will benefit
with an allocation to employ additional
teachers and educators to support student
learning.
We are starting to plan for the
implementation of small group tuition
program focused on literacy and numeracy in
our school.
We will keep you updated. In the meantime
the department’s website has more
information on this program.
Spreading Christmas Cheer While it has been difficult to sing with COVID
restrictions, the Choir managed to learn a
few Christmas songs and went past Murray
Haven as carollers in the street to spread
some Christmas cheer. We performed an
encore of Six White Boomers and Aussie
Jingle Bells at residents requests. We will be
warming our voices up for a full year of
singing in 2021 and look forward to the
chance to sing and perform more often.
Year 5 Leader Speeches The Year 5 students excelled in their
nomination speeches for leadership positions
in 2021. The quality of the speeches were
outstanding. Mrs Radywonik has been
working with our students on developing
their speaking skills and considering the
content of their speeches. Their hard work in
crafting their speeches left our audience truly
entertained as they shared powerful
messages of what leadership in our school
could look like in 2021. Our School Leaders
for 2021 will be announced at our
Presentation Day tomorrow, which will be
live streamed.
Year 6 Teachers versus Students
Game The annual competition between Year 6 and
staff played out on the volleyball courts this
morning. Students boistered their teams with
cheering from the sidelines as points were
won and lost by both sides. It came down to
the wire in the end, with the winners only
two points up. Eventually, it was the staff
who held up the winners cup and set the
challenge for Year 6 in the year ahead.
