These activities have included; celebrating Oaks Day at Hellenic Republic in Kew. This event was enjoyed by all in attendance with fine food, fine fashion and great company. The Halloween Disco held last Saturday night was a great success. The fantastic decorations in the Hall set the scene for a great time, with the children dancing the night away to the DJ dressed in their amazing costumes. They also enjoyed cordial, show bags and sausage in bread. Also on the weekend was the Family Portrait day held on Sunday. Many families took up the option to sit for this professional photo shoot. Sincere thanks to Danielle Browne and the dedicated members of the committee, for their tireless work in organising and coordinating these fantastic events. We are extremely fortunate to have such a committed and proactive group of parents involved in the association. The Boys softball team competed last week on Thursday in the Regional finals. They performed admirably winning one of their three games. The team were great ambassadors for the school with their sportsmanship and exemplary behaviour. Thank you to Mr Pertz who accompanied the students on the day to coordinate and coach the team. The Prep students complete their swimming program on Friday. They have enjoyed their time at the pool developing water awareness and swimming skills. Thank you to Mrs Reid, Miss Smaniotto and Mrs Browne for ensuring that the students enjoyed this program. Thank you also to the parents who also assisted the students during the program. In 1918, the armistice that ended World War 1 came into force, bringing to an end the four years of hostilities that saw 61 919 Australian service men and women die on foreign soil. Few Australian families were left untouched by the events of World War 1 – ‘the war to end all wars’. At 11am on the 11 TH of November we pause to remember the sacrifice of Australian men and women who have died or suffered in wars and conflicts and those who have served to protect our country. As a mark of respect, the students will participate in a Remembrance Day ceremony to be read over the PA system by our school captains Georgia and Oliver. Congratulations to Noah D (5J) who has qualified for the Team Future Camp being held at the AIS in November. Noah is a gifted gymnast and he continues to develop and excel in this sport. Finally, in the past week we have had 2 students who attend the school diagnosed with Chicken Pox. If your child/children appear unwell and display any such symptoms, then I recommend you have them seen by a medical practitioner as soon as possible.

Paper bag ordering will still be available during this transition period. Parents are encouraged to sign up to My School Connect and test the new service. This will also allow us to rectify any issues that might be experienced . For more information on how to register please see the attached flyer in the newsletter. Please also note cash counter sales are still available at both recess and lunchtime.

Volunteers are always required and your help is appreciated. Please contact Suzy on 0422 588 731 or email [email protected] if you are able to assist on any of the blank days. Please find below the Roster for Canteen duty for Thursday 10th November to Wednesday 23rd November 2016.

Bakers Delight Balwyn 377 Whitehorse Road

Balwyn Vic 3103 Greythorn Primary School is fortunate to participate in the Dough Raiser Program at Bakers Delight Balwyn. How the Dough Raiser Program works

1. Each time a family makes a purchase with Bakers Delight Balwyn, simply tell the bakery staff AT THE START OF THE TRANSACTION that they are from Greythorn Primary so that the sale can be rec-orded electronically. The sales attributed to our school are totalled at the end of each year and 5% is then given to the school via cheque or electronic payment. Please note that this Program is on all Bakers Delight products and has no time limit. This is a great fundraising opportunity for Greythorn Primary and we appreciate the support of our local school community by Bakers Delight Balwyn. Greythorn Primary PFA

The Greythorn Mums, Dad (yes - there was one dad!) and extended families all dressed up for the Oaks Day Luncheon last Thursday. It was lovely to spend the day with such a wonderful group of people, whose outfits, colours and head wear looked stunning against the backdrop of the private dining room at Hellenic Republic in Kew. The food and the horses didn't disappoint. Fiona Waddell (Fibi) was awarded best dressed - whose stunning top hat covered in butterflies was her very own creation. Thank you to those who donated give aways and prizes to make the event extra special. Thank you to Liddell Dawes
