Principal’s Message Welcome to Term 3.
I am sure you are feeling excited to get your
children back to school for some inspiring
learning in Term 3. I understand that you
may also feel concerned about the increasing
cases of COVD-19 (novel coronavirus) in
Victoria.
Thank you for your patience as the border
closures and their impact are considered by
authorities. You will be pleased to hear that
our voices have been heard and changes to
the border controls have been implemented
to assist the many schools along the Murray.
Please find an excerpt from the latest
updates about border closures.
• Government and non-government
school, pre-school and childcare
centre students and staff, as well as
people engaged in work to provide
services to such an institution, may
cross the border to attend that
institution, but are required to

travel directly to and from the
school/pre-school/childcare centre
and
• comply with directions about school
attendance made by the Department
of Education.
• These people will not be allowed to
enter if they have been in a Victorian
hot spot (currently being Greater
Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire) in
the last 14 days.
You can read more on the website
From this you can see that staff and students
outside our border community may be able
to get an exemption to attend school and
should go onto the website to apply for their
border pass as soon as possible. I understand
that you will be able to do this from 4pm this
afternoon. However, please be patient with
the software required to access border
passes.
Please contact me if there is anything you
wish to discuss.
If your child is absent
If you do need to keep your child at home for
self-isolation or illness, please call the school
rather than dropping in. Parents are still
discouraged from entering school grounds. If
you do need to enter the school for an
essential reason, you must sign in and leave
your contact details.
To find out what is happening
Updates and changes impacting the
functioning of our school are posted on our
school website. We are aware that these
sudden changes impact your families in a
multitude of ways and our appreciation is
extended to you for helping to protect our
school and community as we continue to
educate our students.
I look forward to an exciting term where we
manage the hurdles of COVID-19 (novel
coronavirus) and share in some inspiring
learning.
Kind regards
Roslyn Buchanan

Lions Junior Public Speaking
The aim of the Lions Junior Public Speaking
competition is to give students in Primary
Schools the chance to develop their ability to
speak in public. This competition is run for
primary students in Grades 3,4,5 and 6.
The topics for 2020 are as below:
Year 3-4: My Favourite Animal in the Zoo
is ???
• Where does it come from?
• What is its favourite food?
• What makes this animal so unique
and why do you like this animal?
Year 5-6: What do you think is the most
incredible invention in the world ???
• Who found it?
• When was it discovered?
• What makes it so incredible and how
has it helped life?
Canteen
Canteen will resume in Term 3 with some
very important changes. Because of COVID-
19, orders and payment must be contactless.
This means orders must be made via email,
and payments are to be made online
Orders are to be emailed to the canteen. The
canteen email address is
[email protected]. Orders must
be submitted before 9am.
Payment for lunch orders are to be made
online. This is available through our website,
https://barham-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/.
• Click on the “Make a Payment” tab
and complete.
• In the description field, please type
“canteen”. A spreadsheet has been
developed, allowing parents to have a
“credit” with the canteen. For
example, John Smith may pay $50
online. On Monday, John may spend
$7, and Wednesday $5, leaving him
with a credit of $38 being held at the
canteen
Delivery of lunch will remain the same as in
the past.
As you are all aware, a lot of things have
changed in the past couple of months, and
the way we order and pay the canteen is one
of them. Please be patient with us as we
navigate our way through these new and
different times.
Education Week
Education Week 2020 will run from Monday
3 August to Friday 7 August. The theme for
Education Week 2020 is Learning together.
It's a theme that reflects an incredible year
for NSW public school students, staff and
parents, and the partnerships that have been
strengthened in response.
This year restrictions will still be in place but
we still plan to celebrate Education Week as
a school community.
Please complete the survey to have your say
about Education Week celebrations and
nominations.
