Dear Families,
Well, talk about a year going fast, I cannot believe that we have
already arrived on the last school day for the year. Catching up with a
number of parents over recent days it seems I am not the only one who
has wondered where the year has vanished too.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every
one of you for your support and work for and within our school. A
school is truly made up of those within it’s community and reflects the
personality of the relationship of our families with classroom teachers
and staff, without your commitment to your children’s future we would
not be able to build the successful future that these young people so
truly have in front of them.
I trust you will each have a very enjoyable Christmas with
family and friends celebrating what matters most. Keep safe, and we
look forward to seeing everyone for the first student day in 2013,
Thursday 31st January 2013.

Year in Reflection
This year has been a year
of challenges and celebrations
and it has been such a privilege
to lead our school through all of
this.
As the year began we lost
2 very special people from our
school community and as we
mourned for them we then faced
floods across the region.

STAR OF THE WEEK
For the Week ending
14.12.2012
Evie Hawks CONGRATULATIONS
STAR OF THE TERM
TERM 4, 2012
Evie Hawks “What a great year you have
had, showing respect to
teachers, students and your
learning”
G eneration One
Throughout this year our
a b o r i g i n a l s t u d e n t s h a v e
participated in many and varied
cultural enhancing activities. They
have cooked indigenous foods for
themselves as well as parents &
visitors to celebrate Reconciliation
Week, attended the Barmah
Heritage Centre on several
occasions to view Art work and
displays.
The Aboriginal children at
Nathalia Primary School have
written a song for “Generation
One”. It represents what is to be
Aboriginal in Australia today.
Generation One
No matter what colour your skin is.
It’s what’s inside you that counts.
Our blood carries our culture.
Our Ancestors from years ago are
our history.
It is our history that makes us
strong and proud.
Our elders are our story tellers from
years ago.
We’re from the Yorta Yorta people.
With strong connections to our
country.
Our waterways brings us our totem,
the Turtle.
Generation One, Black fella, White
fella, working together, learning
together to stop racism.
It has been a pleasure to
work with the Aboriginal students
for the last 2 years.
Cathy Falk.
Year in Reflection Con’d. For many of us we faced
the challenge of this natural
disaster on a personal and
community level and showed
such strength and community
spirit throughout this time.
We celebrated 3 very
successful camps during term 2
with our students in years 3 to 6
gaining so much from these
experiences. For our year 6 camp,
we did face the challenge of a
very severe gastro going through
the camp and following us home
on the train as well.
Throughout the year our
Choir has performed locally in
many venues and shared the
wonderful gift of song within our
community.
There was also a fantastic
Production during 3rd term that
has had such amazing feedback
from many people.
During term 3 I was also
very privileged to take part in an
overseas study tour with my
colleagues from the other 3
schools with in the immediate
township of Nathalia. The
opportunities that this has
created for our community is
fantastic and will benefit every
child in our broader community.
Our RACV team had a
spectacular outcome at the
Energy Breakthrough this year, in
fact they may still be celebrating.
We have now drawn to an
end of the year and recently we
watched as 28 young leaders of
our school graduated as they now
move into the next phase of their
education. Each year our student
leaders show more growth,
leadership and commitment to
our school community. They have
represented our school with pride
and we returned that as we
watched them graduate.
Vicki McManus,
Principal.
