PARENT SURVEY RESULTS Last term we asked parents to complete an online Parent Opinion Survey. Thank you to the 52 parents who did complete the survey, an increased number of participants from previous years. This feedback is greatly appreciated and used to help with our school improvement. Some really pleasing feedback from this year’s survey includes:

All parents agreed or strongly agreed our students know how they are expected to behave at school All parents agreed or strongly agreed our students are encouraged to have a sense of pride in their

achievements All parents agreed or strongly agreed they felt welcome in our school. 50 out of 51 responders felt there is a broad variety of communications that inform parents about the school. 49 out of 51 responders felt their child’s teachers make learning interesting and enjoyable and also that

teachers are enthusiastic in their teaching – 2 were unsure. 49 out of 51 responders felt comfortable approaching their child’s teacher to talk about their progress.

4 parents responded that they disagreed that the school provides a safe and secure environment. If you have any concerns about this, please make a time to come and see me at the school to discuss this. Our aim is for every child to feel safe a secure and actively engaged with their learning at Clare Primary School. The Parent Opinion Survey data was shared with staff at a staff meeting last night and will be shared with Governing Council at our week 3 meeting and will be used with our planning for 2019.

Thank you again to all the parents who did respond to the survey – your feedback is highly valued! BUSHFIRE SEASON A reminder that Clare Primary School is classified as being in a ‘High Fire Risk Area’ and is closed on days forecast to be ‘Catastrophic’ in the Mid North region. No one can be onsite and OSHC is also closed. No buses or taxi’s run on these days. If a fire was to occur during a school day that is forecast to impact on the township of Clare, our school invacuates into the main stone building, our ‘Bushfire Refuge’. Once we invacuate and lock the doors, we cannot let any child leave until an all clear is given by authorities. Parents cannot collect their children until this all clear is given. This can be long after the normal school day has finished. Within our ‘REFUGE’ we have food and drink and activities to keep the children relaxed and engaged, and processes to keep them safe. Work has been done around our ‘REFUGE’, including the removal of two trees in the front garden, to make this building a safe place in the event of a fire. Attached to the electronic copy of this week’s newsletter is a Parent Bushfire Information document to further explain what schools do in a bushfire situation. If you would like a hard copy please call in to the Front Office and pick one up or if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us. Regards,

Mark Vincent Principal
