The Centre for Coastal Biogeochemistry is able to offer a range of traditional environmental and ecological services as well as a range of state-of-the-art biogeochemical and modelling services. Field work is our speciality and we have access to a full range of boats, 4WDs, divers and sampling equipment. We have successfully undertaken projects in NSW, QLD, WA and Tasmania, including operations in remote areas such as the Ord River, Western Australia and Cape York, Far North Queensland as well as overseas in Europe and Asia. We often transport personnel, equipment, and samples long distances nationally and internationally. We have our own NATA certified in-house laboratory. As such, all sample collection, transport, storage, and analysis will be undertaken entirely in-house resulting in a strong chain of custody.

He maintains both a world-class research profile with around 50 publications in refereed international journals and an outstanding client-based consultancy profile with around 60 technical reports. By merging his research and consultancy activities Brad is able to provide clients with a service that is technically at the forefront of the aquatic science field nationally and internationally. He’s been able to maintain this nexus of research and consultancy because he likes to do research that can be used to help clients make informed decisions to better manage their aquatic environments.

Dr. Bradley Eyre has over 15 years research and consulting experience in aquatic biogeochemistry and ecology.

Centre Profile

The consultancy arm of the Centre for Coastal Biogeochemistry (CCB) has developed to service the needs of a rapidly changing environmental market.

We like to determine what our clients long-term goals are for understanding and managing their aquatic ecosystems and what we can do to assist in achieving those goals.

Our consultancy has grown rapidly from referrals and repeat work from our initial clients, and our continued growth depends on the complete satisfaction of every client.

Being a small boutique consultancy we are able to offer a very personal service focused on our client’s needs. This is illustrated by the hands-on involvement of the principal.

We have the philosophy of always giving that little extra so as to exceed our client’s expectations of both the science and the delivery of that science. Although we are happy to undertake one-off projects, we are genuinely interested in building long-term relationships with our clients.

There is a move towards understanding how aquatic ecosystems function, rather than just describing and monitoring the system.

This much deeper understanding of ecosystem function is increasingly being demanded by regulatory agencies and resource managers, and cannot be achieved with traditional sampling, survey and monitoring programs.

An understanding of ecosystem function requires a combination of traditional environmental and ecological studies, state-of-the-art biogeochemical studies and modelling (for more details see http://www.ozestuaries.org/indicators/indicators.html.).

Our strengths lie in:

(1) our focus on aquatic environments (marine systems, estuaries, coastal lagoons, ports and harbours are our speciality, but we also undertake studies in rivers, lakes and dams),

(2) our ability to draw on current scientific research due to CCB research activities at Southern Cross University and our collaborations with other research organisations,

(3) our ability to combine traditional environmental and ecological studies with state-of-the-art biogeochemical studies and modelling to provide a comprehensive understanding of ecological systems, and

(4) our focus on delivering high quality client-based products.
