Lesson 1 September 1, 2019

Wind Sock Room Decoration—The theme for the quarter reflects in the design of this wind sock: real joy comes when we obey God. Trim around the outer edges of the wind sock. Glue ends together to make a cylinder. Cut five 2' lengths of fall colors of crepe paper streamers. Fold a streamer in half at one end and staple on the inside bottom of the wind sock. Repeat for the other four streamers, spacing them evenly around the cylinder. Tie a 40'' length of string to the top to make a hanger. Hang the wind sock in your room where air currents will make the streamers move gently.

Item 1—Scripture Poster. The Bible Insight verse for the first lesson correlates well with other lessons throughout the quarter. Display the photo poster on a cardboard tabletop easel or on the wall. It adds a beauty spot and will be a silent teacher during the studies this quarter.

Accordion-folded Story Strip Visual—Eight scenes illustrate the story of Noah. Cut away the margin around the picture strips. Use transparent tape on the back side to join the two sections. Make even folds back and forth accordion style with picture 1-1 on top and picture 1-8 on the bottom. Hold the visual in your hands to reveal the individual picture called for as you tell the story. When finished, set the folded visual on the table so that all the scenes show.

Item 2—Bible Lands Map. Places in the lessons become more meaningful when learners see their locations in relation to other places. Use this map all quarter to make Bible history come alive. Display on cardboard tabletop easel or on the wall.

Pop-up Book Visual—Boys and girls enjoy pop-up books because of the dimensional look they have. Cut out figures 2-1, 2-2 and 2-3 to use on the pages of this interesting visual. Fold a sheet of 8 ½'' x 11'' paper in half width wise. On the fold side, cut two slits about 1 1/2'' long and 1'' apart to make a tab. Fold the tab forward and crease the fold line. Fold it to the back and crease. Open the paper halfway and push the tab through to the inside. Adjust the tab to stand upright.

Glue a visual figure to the front of the tab as shown in the sketch. Repeat for the other two figures on separate pages. Stack the folded pages in the order of use. Glue the outside edges of connecting pages together so that they form one page. The outside bottom of the page with figure 2-1 will join the outside top of the page with figure 2-2. Repeat for the other section. Fold a piece of construction paper in half to make a cover. Put glue around the outside edges of the front of the first page and the back of the last page. Place inside the folded cover and hold against the fold line while pressing firmly to bind. The edges of the construction paper will extend slightly beyond the pages of the book making it easy to open and use. Lesson 3 September 15, 2019
