Blackberry

• Common plant with berries.• Thorned.

Forest fire.

• Pretend a forest fire happened in this forest.• All trees and plants burnt down and all

animals dispersed from a ten mile radius.

Primary succession

• Now that the trees are gone lower lying plants such as blackberry bushes can get more light and therefore are more numerous.

Secondary succession

• Now that there are more berries more herbivorous/omnivorous birds such as Stellar’s Jay will go to that area to forage for food.
