A letter to Joseph

Dear Joseph,

How are you ? Mum told me that you are coming to Hong Kong this winter. I suggest you to go to

four special places that are famous in Hong Kong. First, Ocean Park has lots of exciting rides.

Second, you should go to the Hong Kong Wetland Park. You can see lots of birds there that you

cannot see near where you live now. I have been there once! Then, you should go to Aberdeen.

Everyday, many people go there to have seafood. Lastly, I think you should go to the Peak. You can

take many beautiful photos there. Hope you will enjoy your visit to these four places!

Monday Sunny 23rd February, 2015

What a happy day today!

It was lunar New Year holiday so my mum and my aunt took me to Tai O by bus.

In Tai O, I saw many green trees and the air was very fresh. Along the way, I saw the mangrove forests.

When I went there, it was low tide, so I could see the roots of the mangroves. When I left, it was high tide.

The water rose up the shore and covered all the roots. I felt that nature was amazing.

Then, we walked in the village and saw the stilt houses. They were very special and I felt that Tai O people

were clever to build those houses over the water.

Finally, we walked to the Tai O Heritage Hotel. It had been a police station before. The building preserved

the colonial architectural elements. It was so beautiful. I went to the Former Holding Cell. It was a small

room with a long concrete bench. It was very creepy.

When the sun went down we left, filled with happiness. Today, I learnt some cultural facts of Tai O and I

want to learn more about the history of Hong Kong in the future.

Friday Sunny 28th November, 2014

During the past three days, P.5 students went to Lady Maclehose Holiday Village.

On the first day, my team played archery and did some handicrafts. After that, we had our dinner. Then, we

played a detective game. We needed to investigate a very complicated case. We went to a crime on the

spot and investigated the case. At last my team won the competition and became the 2nd winner! We

enjoyed this game very much!

The next day, after breakfast, we went to play another game. During game time, our body couldn’t move

outside the line which was drawn on the floor. And we needed to put the things as far as we could. The first

team member put his / her feet on the second team member’s hand. (But the hand wore the shoes.) So,

our bodies would not touch the floor. Suddenly, it was raining, so we have stayed at the campsite for two

hours. After that, my team wanted to play archery or handicraft, but Mr. Yiu taught us how to play football

machine. We loved it! It was a great game for us. We played it for almost an hour. How funny it was! At

night, we played some more games to enrich our friendship skills. So exciting!

On the last day, we had some more time to play, so we went to play football machine again.

But soon it was time to go back home. It was the best camp I have ever been to! I loved it. I hope I will go

camping again.

Josh’s lunchtime at school

“ Ding, dong! Ding , dong!” When it was lunch time, I saw Kieran walking happily out of the classroom

with Matthew. After I saw that, I thought it was a little bit unbelievable, however Matthew followed Kieran

too! So I thought they were making friends. I heard the classmates talking happily, including Kieran and

Matthew!

I couldn’t stand it! So I pulled a bad, red face at Kieran and Matthew then went and sat under the tree

alone. I felt angry and sad.

When they were having lunch together on the bench, I didn’t want to join them because I hated

Matthew. That was enough! I couldn’t stand it! They happily shared their food but not with me! After that, I

didn’t want to have lunch in a bad mood! “Yuck!” I snapped. I believed my classmates were laughing at me

as I was alone, with no friends. I felt very hopeless without my friends.

In the recess, Matthew and Kieran came to me and invited me to join them. However, I refused to play

with them, because of Matthew, the boy grabbed my best friend! Then I heard them whispering. I hoped

they were not gossiping about me. I felt worried and alone.

Matthew’s lunchtime at school

“Lunch time! Please bring your lunchboxes and go to the playground!” said Miss Kemp loudly. So I got my

race car lunchbox and Kieran got his Spiderman lunchbox and we walked together to the playground. I

heard classmates talking happily. I was nervous but interested about the things in the playground.

When we were sitting on the bench, I saw Josh giving me a bad look. I didn’t know what I did wrong. Then,

Josh came nearer to me, “Why did you take my best friend?” said Josh angrily. I didn’t know how to answer

such a question. “I ……I did not take your friend, Kieran. He needs to take care of me these few days, so

maybe you can join in,” I said in a small voice. At that time, Josh knew that Kieran was just helping me

because Miss Kemp asked him to do it.

“Sorry, please forgive me. I will play with Kieran as usual. Do you want to play basketball? More players are

more fun!” I said. “Sure! I love playing basketball,” said Josh. While Kieran, Josh and I were playing

basketball, the school cat Mandy also came, looking like a teacher walking around the playground. My

warm smile made Mandy feel like I was going to win the basketball race. With Mandy’s cheering, I was the

real winner!

Matthew’s lunchtime at school

When it was lunchtime, I followed Kieran down to the playground and sat next to him on the

bench. I saw Josh a few seconds later. He seemed to be sad but he stared at us angrily. He carried his

lunchbox. I thought he was going to eat but he sat under a tree and ate nothing instead! I am so

worried. I think he hates me.

I tried to tell Kieran about it but Kieran just pretended to be a stupid clown!

Ring! Ring! The bell rang. It’s time to go back to our classroom. I followed Kieran back to

the classroom. When I looked back, Josh was behind us, still staring angrily at us! Kieran knew Josh was

angry with him, so he looked down at his feet and quickly ran back to his classroom, leaving me behind,

trying very hard to catch up.

Now, I feel as helpless as a baby. I don’t know what else to do but hope Kieran and Josh will

be friends. I don’t want to ruin their friendship! And I don’t want any Jammy-Dodger jam biscuit

grudges with Josh!

The Accident

I went ice-skating with my friend, Lucy. When we were ice-skating, we talked about the interesting

things that happened in our school.

Suddenly, Lucy skated very fast but I could not follow her. I was very worried. I shouted ‘‘Lucy, wait!’’

But she couldn’t hear me.

At that time, a boy came my way. He was talking with his friend and he didn’t see me, so he

bumped right into me.

We were very unlucky that we both broke our legs! We had to stay in the hospital for two weeks.

The boy promised me that he would be more careful next time.

Winning a Film-Making Competition

Recently, I won HK$1,000 in a film-making competition. I made a documentary which

was about my pet dog. I made this film to record all the best moments that my dog and I

spent with each other.

I entered the competition in the hope that people would be touched by this film. I

made it three months ago and spent many nights editing it.

I felt great when I learnt that I won the competition and I will spend the money on

camera equipment so that I can make films with higher quality in the future.
