Part 2 : Personal response about the topic with justifications and elaborations. It will be good if students have good general knowledge to substantiate her reasons.

PUTTING IT TOGETHER! To have healthy teeth and gums, we should avoid food that are too sweet.

This means we should avoid the donuts and sweet drinks.

During Health Education lessons, my teacher taught us that eating too much sweet stuff can cause our teeth to decay. This means that our teeth will spoil, and we will have to pull it out/extract it!

“In fact, I am fortunately not a fan of donuts. Firstly, I find them too sweet, and secondly, they are deep fried. Once, I was standing outside JCO Donuts. I saw the baker mixing the ingredients for the donut icing; I was appalled by the amount of sugar added into the mixture! And that was only the tip of the iceberg! I was turned off by the amount of oil that was used to fry a donut! As for sweet drinks, I am aware that not only do they contain high amount of sugar, some of the drinks such as Coke or Pepsi are also corrosive for our teeth. Once, I read on a viral online article that Coke can be used to remove rust from jewelries. I dread imagining the detrimental effects one will ultimately experience on their teeth and gums from the consumption of these sweet drinks.

PUTTING IT TOGETHER!

To stay healthy, we will need to exercise regularly, and have enough sleep.

Exercising helps to build up our muscles, and improve our immune system. This will make us fit and strong! Having enough sleep will make sure that we have enough energy for the activities we do.

“In fact, this is why mummy makes it compulsory for me to be in bed by 10 pm every night, even on the weekends. She wants to ensure that I am well- rested, and can concentrate in class. There was once where I stayed pass my my bed time to complete an assignment which I had forgotten about till the eleventh hour. The next day, not only did I wake up feeling grouchy, I was also unable to understand the content taught in school that day. To make matter worst, I actually dozed off twice during Mathematics lesson. This infuriated my teacher, who made a call to Mummy, but not before embarrassing me in front of my peers with her sarcastic remarks. And as expected, Mummy gave me a piece of her mind when I returned home that day. In retrospect, staying pass my bed time was definitely a bad decision!

Based on the survey results, the Track and Field CCA option was the least popular

My name is Henry Lee, a customer of Kico CD Shop. I am writing this letter to complain about one of your

salesgirls, Jane Tan. (Self-introduction and purpose of letter)

On 1 October 2007 at 11 am, I bought a CD, ‘Top 10 Children’s Songs’ from Kico CD Shop and immediately

went home. When I opened up the CD cover, I found that the CD in the box was broken. I went back to the

shop on the same day, 1 October 2007 at 5pm and showed the original receipt and the CD to the salesgirl on

duty, Jane Tan, to ask for an exchange. To my surprise, she refused to give me a new one and to make

matters worse, she accused me of breaking the CD myself. I felt very angry and disappointed as it is clearly

stated on the receipt that goods can be exchanged within three days of purchase with original receipt. (Details

I would appreciate it if you could look into the matter and allow me an exchange for the broken CD that I have

CONTINUOUS WRITING The emphasis in class will be on the planning stage

and brainstorming of ideas.

Students will be taught how to make links between the given theme/topic and one two of the given pictures. Students are not required to link all 3 pictures.

Students can write in any genre which they are comfortable with e.g. expository text, narrative, journal entry etc.

Students are encouraged to use first person narrative as there will be more scope for development i.e. writer’s thoughts, feelings and vivid descriptions.

Practice makes perfect. The more they write, the

more ideas they have and the more confident

they become.

Guide them in the planning stage by linking the

given theme/topic with the pictures.

Discuss with your child the various ideas.

More importantly get your child to think through

whether their ideas are realistic.

Suggest alternative words and phrase to make

the composition interesting.
