Pride Paws Retail Store is owned and operated by Pride Ventures, Inc.
Our Mission:
Pride Ventures, Inc. was formed in 2009. We are a non-profit organization,
structured exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Principally,
we provide job training and transitional employment experience to
persons with developmental disabilities who could not independently
succeed in the work place. With proper training these individuals can gain
practical work and life skills to enhance their future employment
opportunities and further enrich their lives.
Accomplishing Our Goal:
Pride Ventures, Inc. works closely with the staff and students of local high
schools located in Southern New Jersey that serve the educational needs of
students with developmental disabilities. We place current and recently
graduated students in a real work place environment where they interact
with the community and earn a salary. Our environment instills a positive
work ethic and enables these individuals to reach their personal highest
level of achievement. We have provided transistional employment
oppurtunites for 58 individuals and counting. Additionally, Pride Paws
has been named as a Qualified Provider of Habilitation Services by the
Department of Developmental Disabilities.
We Believe:
Gainful employment can be the genesis for essential self-esteem and
improved quality of life.

Our Management Team Pride Ventures Inc. thanks Silver Sponsor:
Pride Paws could not be luckier to have 5 remarkable managers who run the day-to-day operations of the retail store. Long time volunteer, Suzanne Link recently joined the management team this year. Suzanne loves working at Pride because she loves learning new things from each of the participants. Hailey Heikkinen joined as a manager in the fall and has taken the lead on many projects including improving our website, scheduling and taking over our vendor order system. In addition, she has secured an advertising grant for Pride from Google and started our AmazonSmile account. Sara Steinmetz joined Pride in 2012 as a job coach and shortly moved up to become a Saturday manager. Sara loves guiding the participants to gain independence in tasks around the store and working with customers. Lynn Headley has been with Pride since 2010, starting as a job coach with her daughter Alicia. Since then, Lynn has become a part-time manager and along with Alicia, knows the ins and outs of running Pride Paws. Lynn loves being in the local community and watching the participants develop life-long employability skills. Renee joined Pride in 2011 and became our very first manager. She has supported over 35 participants in their work experiences at Pride and has been an invaluable asset to accomplishing our mission. Renee has recently retired and can be found enjoying her time traveling with her family. Happy Retirement Renee from all of us at Pride <3
2016: Year in Review
New Faces
2016 was another extraordinary year for Pride Ventures Inc. and Pride
Paws. We are continuing to welcome many new faces who contribute
positively to the success of Pride Paws. Ryan Green, Ed Schofield, Alec
Schwartz, Peyton Christianson, Roberta Gaines and Samantha Conolly
have joined Pride Paws as participants. We have also gained the help of
Denise Hejnas, Kristen Katsigiannis, Bridget Hickey, Kim Zuno, Joseph
Anderson, Janiya McClendon, Ryan Powell and June Kushner as job
coaches. We could not do what we do without our volunteers.
Continued Support
A special Thank You from the bottom of our hearts to Quixote Quest
Center for Family Services teen volunteers: Jasmin, Hugo, Adrienne,
Amber and Brooke. Quixote Quest is a volunteer organization for high
school students looking to make a difference in people’s lives.
Santa Smiles
Pride Paws continues to leave pawprints throughout the community-
especially around the holidays. Pride Paws is proud of its community
outreach and our 2nd year of Pet Photos with Santa. A holiday backdrop
created by our participants, the generous and skilled help of
photographers Kelly Berzley, Jasmin Anderson-Berzley and Joseph
Anderson, and 2 very patient volunteers dressed as Santa Claus (Kevin
McCormac and Alex Tarsiewicz) and Pride Paws visitors left with photos
and memories filled with holiday joy. We love our fur-friends at Pride
Paws and look forward to next year’s photoshoot.

Pride Paws in the Local Media. The Courier Post did a spotlight piece on Pride Paws and Pride also welcomed CBS Philly Studios into the store for a featured TV news segment called:
Brotherly Love: NJ Pet Store Trains People With Special Needs
which ran multiple times over the holiday season.
Pride Paws is Always Pet Friendly. Pride participants Michael Hofmann, Lauren Diorio, Allison Michalke and Nicole Schroeder love when customers bring their fur-babies into Pride for
a visit to get their favorite treat or toy.
Pride and Special Olympics. Did you know that 80% of Pride Paw participants are involved in Special Olympics New Jersey? Special Olympics believes that through sports training and competition people with intellectual disabilities are benefited physically, mentally, socially and spiritually, families are strengthened,
and the community at large, both through participation and observation, is united in understanding with intellectual disabilities in an environment of equality, respect and acceptance. Tonight Pride welcomes over 50 athletes and coaches from local teams and our very own Area 13 Director, Kate Maloney.
