WHAT IS THE SAT TEST?

The SAT is a globally recognized college admissions exam. It tests your knowledge of reading, writing and math.

• The reading section includes reading passages and sentence completions.

• The writing section includes a short essay and multiple-choice questions on grammar and usage.

• The mathematics section includes questions on arithmetic operations, algebra, geometry, statistics and probability.

2012 AYP STATUS

To Make AYP the school must meet the State Academic Targets or Safe Harbor Targets as a whole school and in all the sub-groups: Special Education, Economically Disadvantaged etc.

State Academic Targets are: 78% Proficient in Reading 66% Proficient in Math

Safe Harbor Targets are: 10% Rule (show improvement of 10% -+/- the margin of error) 83% Graduation Rate

HOW DID PRHS DO?

PRHS did not make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for 2012

Academic Targets were not met even though they were above the state average in every subject area.

Safe Harbor Targets were not met (but it was close!)

PRHS met the 10% rule in all sub-groups and had a 90% graduation rate as a whole school, however, the special education sub-group only had a 78% graduation rate. This kept PRHS from making Safe Harbor.

***If 2 more Special Education students had graduated – PRHS would have made AYP.
