MAIN FINDINGS
1. In most neighborhoods within the e-scooter pilot area, between 21 to 30% of trips within the pilot zone were quicker due to e-scooters, compared to trips involving only walking and/or public transit, with average time saving being several minutes per trip in most areas.
2. In Hermosa, West Town, Portage Park, and United Center, e-scooters saved time on the greatest share of trips, ranging from 31 to 37% of trips.
3. E-scooters saved time on the lowest share in Montclare, Austin and Ukrainian Village, ranging from 15% - 16% of trips.
4. On trips in which e-scooters were used, e-scooters shortened travel time by the greatest amount in Humboldt Park (8.1 minutes), followed by 4.0 minutes in Hermosa and 3.5 minutes in West Town.

LIMITATIONS AND IMPLICATIONS
Single day of observations. While the scooter locations on this day resemble some of the broader trends reported in the City of Chicago e-scooter pilot study, results are likely to differ from day to day, depending on e-scooter locations.
Did not consider e-scooter overall supply/capacity constraints.
Geographic access does not equal functional access. Previous studies have shown that that availability of bikeshare/e-scooter share/other modes does not directly translate into usage. Several barriers may exist including monetary cost, bank/cell phone access, system awareness, safety concerns, other transaction costs.
Where to delineate the new e-scooter rental boundary and how manyscooters to provide.
