Ensign’s Pressure Drilling Services’ adaptive drilling process precisely controls the annular pressure profile in the wellbore to be less than or equal to the reservoir. With decreased wellbore fluid pressure, there is less potential for damage to the formation than with conventional drilling resulting in improved drilling performance and increased reservoir knowledge.

Whether REACTIVE or PROACTIVE Managed Pressure Drilling – we have the solutions.Reactive MPD involves passive well control comprised of surface equipment as a contingency measure to manage unexpected fluid/gas influxes. Proactive MPD is when planned events maintain downhole pressure between pore and fracture pressure.

Underbalanced Drilling occurs when the pressure in a wellbore is less than the reservoir. With less pressure, formation fluid flows from the reservoir into the wellbore and up to the surface. This pressure differential mitigates fluid loses and formation damage caused by conventional drilling, among other benefits.
