United Nation En#iron!ent Prora! (UNEP) National Co!!ittee "or the Repu%lic

o" &orea* The prora! started in +,. and to date /#e ca!ps 0ere orani'ed in

#arious parts o" the 0orld includin &en$a1 Nepal and Monolia* It is a reat

e2ort %$ &ia Motors to %rin this prora! to Mala$sia and to introduce Mala$sian

uni3ue culture1 %iodi#ersit$ and rain"orest to the participants o" Eco D$na!ics

E4pedition Ca!p1 0ho had %een selected throuh strinent tests and

co!petitions in their countries*

 The di#ersit$ and uni3ue en#iron!ent in IIUM are #er$ attracti#e "or this

international outreach prora! 0here international students and lecturers can

!eet and discuss the current en#iron!ental issues at their reions1 includin

A"rica1 Middle East and Asia* The ca!p 0ill %e held "ro! 5-6 th 7anuar$ +,8 at

#illaers o" a%out <, people* The #isit 0as led %$ the Director o" the Prora!1

Mr* Par: San 7oon1 Mar:etin Tea! =eader "or &ia Motors1 0hich is the !ain

sponsor o" the prora!*

 The openin cere!on$ started 0ith the introduction o" the #illae and the hosts"or the students> roups* The #illaers had prepared "east o" local delicacies

such as %a!%oo rice1 salted /sh1 "er!ented durian sauce and salads !ade o" 

local "orest #eeta%les* Tarian se0an> a traditional dance 0as per"or!ed %$

the locals at the end o" the cere!on$ and all students 0ere in#ited to participate

and oin the dance* The at!osphere 0as a!a'in and o#er0hel!ed 0ith o$ and

lauhter as the locals 0ere #er$ 0elco!in to the participants and in#ited the!

to #isit their residents a"ter the openin cere!on$* The students also

e4perienced the taste o" local "ruits such as ra!%utan and :o:o "ro! the #illae*

9or Eco D$na!ics Challene Ca!p +,81 the students 0ere placed in 5 roups

and each roup 0as assined to a host "a!il$* In this acti#it$1 the roup 0ouldconduct a sur#e$ and o%ser#ation o" the local li"est$les and surroundin

en#iron!ent1 %iodi#ersit$ and social acti#ities to desin or propose a solution o" 

their concern pro%le! or issue usin Appropriate Technolo$ accordinl$ to the

i#en the!es* The the!es that 0ere chosen "or this acti#ities 0ereB 0ater

puri/cation1 !itiation o" landslide1 i!pro#e!ent o" li#in condition1 0aste 0ater

treat!ent and i!pro#e!ent o" the household econo!$*
