Danish design company presents living art at Hampton Court Flower Show At this year’s Flower Show at Hampton Court one of the top 5 ‘must-see’ stands is the Danish design company Baugaarden Living Art which exhibits their beautiful living willow sculptures. For more than ten years the company has created plants, trees and sculptures made of living willow and decorated outdoor surroundings in Denmark and abroad. Everything is made by hand at the location in Ringsted, Denmark. The designer behind the magnificent sculptures is Heinrich Braun, founder of Baugaarden Living Art. ‘Working with living willow gives me a unique opportunity to create art which is alive. The willow sticks merge where they cross and the sculpture will grow into a true masterpiece of living art’, says Heinrich Braun and continues ‘when I have created a living sculpture I hand it over to nature for it to finalize the piece of art and it’s a process I’m very fascinated by’. The willow sculptures are all made of living willow which is twisted, bent and weaved in different beautiful shapes. It is all handmade and each sculpture is a unique living piece of art. The sculptures are winter hardy and withstand the Northern European climate all year round. The crowns are pruned in early spring and cut in shape twice each summer to suit the proportions of the sculpture.
