1. LCZ : THE RIDER COMMUNITY For over 30 years, La Clusaz has been a mecca of freestyle and freeride skiing with a long list of champions, from Edgar Grospiron to Candide Thovex, who are constantly driving advances in their disciplines and the greater world of skiing. Recently, skiers and snowboarders past, present and future from La Clusaz have decided to come together to share their passion and take their sport to new heights. LCZ is a community where everyone, whether young or old, beginner or experienced, can share tips and discuss their techniques.

2. RaDIO MEUH CIRCUs FEsTIvaL: 30 MaRCH TO 3 aPRIL 2016

It’s a success story that began 8 years ago when Philippe Thévenet started Radio Meuh in his hometown of La Clusaz. In just a few years since the launch of the free broadcast, it has grown to become one of the most popular ad-free independent internet radio stations in France. Today Radio Meuh is the only French internet station to have its very own music festival. The simple concept is tried and tested: 3 nights of live concerts held under the big top and 6 days of DJ sets on the slopes.

3. sPRING sKI sEssIONs: LEaRN TO sKI FOR FREE

La Clusaz is the ultimate place when it comes to bringing together beginners and the ski slopes. A first encounter with snow and skis can be a little daunting, so what can you do to make sure that it’s a match made in heaven? 4. LEs sOMMETs DU DIGITaL: CONFERENCE 1-3 FEBRUaRY 2016

La Clusaz is set to welcome leading specialists in digital innovation, e-commerce and marketing during Les Sommets du Digital conference. Organised by Editions Kawa, the exceptional event will see 250 participants and 30 speakers come together to consider the new connected world, including the best in innovation today and promising perspectives for tomorrow. The format is an innovative mix of interactive conferences, masterclasses, one to ones, activities and networking events.

5. WIFI ON THE sLOPEs*In order for visitors to enjoy easy access to a high-speed wireless internet network, this winter the resort has installed several WIFI hotspots throughout the village and around the ski slopes, including the Bossonnet ice rink, the church square and the aquatic centre. The departure and arrival platforms of the Balme gondola lift will also have WIFI coverage. *First half-hour free

6. THE FaMOUs aPRÈs-sKI EvENTs One of the must-do activities when at the snow is of course an après-ski. Both on the slopes and in the village, from 3pm onwards several on-mountain restaurants and bars turn up the music to welcome the first revellers. After an incredible day hitting the slopes of the Aravis, there’s no need to wait for nightfall to get the party started. 3 venues not to be missed on the slopes:•Chalet des Praz: enjoy DJ sessions

breathtaking view and great music at 1900 m altitude.

7. LE CINQ THE PINNaCLE OF FINE DININGThe restaurant at the luxury 5-star Relais & Châteaux hotel Au Coeur du Village will be redesigned this winter in order to create two unique dining experiences. The existing establishment, which will serve a bistro-style menu, is to be complemented by Le Cinq, an exclusive gourmet offering located on the first-floor in an intimate setting limited to 25 diners. Thanks to talented chef Thomas Eudier and his team, Le Cinq is sure to become the reference when it comes to fine dining and gastronomy in the Aravis.

8. NORDIC sKI TOURINGThe French Ski School (ESF Nordic section) has a new activity on offer: Nordic ski touring. Part way between cross-country skiing and ski touring, this forerunner of alpine skiing is an activity that allows you to experience the pleasure of gliding along whilst immersing yourself in nature and discovering the flora and fauna of the mountain. A gentle snow sport, it is respectful of the environment since it does not require the installation of any facilities and is also an efficient and practical way of crossing snow-covered natural surroundings.

9. 100% ELECTRIC CaR ICE CIRCUITAn ice circuit 100% dedicated to electric cars opened in La Clusaz in 2014. The novel concept, which is the first of its kind, encourages visitors to discover the joys of driving, without polluting the environment, aboard a specially equipped Renault Twizy. Whether it be for a drive with a group of friends or a professional workshop, in next to no time anyone can learn the intricacies of driving on ice.

CHECKPOINT DVA in a continued effort to improve off-piste security, La Clusaz installed a “transceiver checkpoint” last winter which checks the signals of the ArVAs used by skiers and snowboarders and also verifies that the equipment is set up correctly so that the person can be located should it be necessary to do so. it can be found at the bottom of the Balme lifts.For more info on off-piste security, check out www.laclusaz.com

YOUNG FREERIDERS ARE GIVEN TOP PRIORITY the resort is working hard to encourage young freeriders to realise their full potential, and comprehensive training programmes have been developed within the 3 ski schools (eSF, eSi and evolution2). each programme is designed to develop awareness of the mountain and its dangers while also encouraging the spirit of competition. Over the season young freeriders are made aware of the importance of prevention and security while perfecting their freeriding techniques.

LCZ RADIKAL MOUNTAIN: 18 - 24 JaNUaRY 2016La Clusaz has decided to organise LCZ radikal Mountain, an exceptional week-long event that will see the resort transform into the epicentre of international ski freeriding with several competitions for the Junior and elite Freeride world Qualifiers.

•MaTHIEU BIJassON: He took part in the illustrious Freeride world tour 2013 after proving his talents in the Freeride world Qualifier.

•LaURE vaILLY: 3rd overall in the Freeride world Qualifier (1st French) after a fantastic 2014/2015 season full of medals.

tHOSe tO wAtCH: - Arthur raskin: recently crowned Junior Freeride world Champion 2015 in Andorra. «Freestyle is part of La Clusaz; there have always been skiers from here who were pioneers, constantly pushing the limits. The variety of the ski domain and especially its outstanding quality develops certain versatility in skiers but also creativity. The reason there are so many champions from La Clusaz comes also from the support of its inhabitants and the solid structures within the resort, such as the Sports Club. When a village comes out to support a Champion the effect is immense; not only does it give the general public a figure they can identify with the resort but it brings together the whole village for each race. The very spirit of La Clusaz pushes the champions further to the top!»

THE NEW AND IMPROVED SNOWPARK La Clusaz is continually seeking to improve the ski domain, in particular investing in three lifts over the past two years. Last winter also saw improvements to the snowpark with the separation of the “intermediate/advanced” and “beginner” lines making the “beginner” zone even safer for the general public.

20 ET 21 DÉCEMBRELa Coupe du monde de ski de fond sera l'évènement international qui lancera la saison d'hiver à La Clusaz! Pour cette 7ème édition, tous les yeux seront tournés vers nos champions olympiques titrés à Sotchi (Relais 4x10km), le relais français composé de Jean-Marc Gailard, Maurice Manificat, Robin Duvillard et Ivan Perrillat Boiteux, médaillé de bronze.

•LES PESTACLES DU PÈRE NOËL DU 24 AU 31 DÉCEMBRE Du 24 au 31 décembre 2014 c’est une semaine de festival d’arts de rue entièrement gratuite, pleine d’humour et de gaieté, pour redécouvrir la magie et la féérie de Noël. Spectacles, concerts, déambulations pour toute la famille élisent domicile au cœur du village.

JANVIER•SNOW AVANT-PREMIÈRE

DU 18 AU 20 JANVIERC’est le rendez-vous de la presse professionnelle et spécialisée, des testeurs et des magasins : ils viennent chaque année à La Clusaz découvrir et tester « on Snow » les nouvelles gammes de matériel.

DU 2 AU 7 MARSLa plus célèbre des tournées freeski européennes revient encore plus fort cette année à La Clusaz !

AVRIL•RADIOMEUH CIRCUS FESTIVAL

DU 1er AU 6 AVRILForte du succès des deux premières éditions, l’équipe de Radiomeuh.com reconduit son festival et marque ainsi en musique le printemps du ski. En parallèle de 3 soirées de concerts, des scènes et animations DJ sont proposées toute la semaine sur les pistes de La Clusaz, complétées par des après-ski et des soirées dans le village pour 6 jours de fête !

•SKI D’OR11 ET 12 AVRILCréée par les ESF pour les plus de 13 ans titulaires au minimum du Chamois d’argent, cette compétition permet aux élèves de l’ESF de se mesurer à l’échelle nationale.

•DÉFI FOLY19 AVRILLors du Défi Foly, ce sont plus de 150 sportifs un peu fous, qui vont tenter la traversée du lac des Confins à ski! C’est l’évènement incontournable et insolite qui clôt chaque année, depuis 1987, la saison d’hiver à La Clusaz.
