25 dynamic European producers have been selected for networking platform EFP names PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE for Cannes 2012 April 24, 2012. Exciting insights, new business contacts and, in the end, a co-production deal! These expectations often become reality for participants of European Film Promotion’s (EFP) Cannes-based programme PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE. This year, a group of 25 dynamic and handpicked producers from across Europe will take part in EFP’s networking platform between May 19 – 22 during the Cannes International Film Festival (May 16 – 27) – some with films in the festival's sections. For the first time, EFP will be welcoming a producer from Georgia, its youngest member country. In its 13th year, PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE is again financially backed by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union and the participating EFP member organisations. During the four-day-event, the producers will benefit both from branding and networking. Various forums provide them with inestimable personal contacts to people from the film industry and press as well as information on producing and financing in various European countries. Roundtable and one-to-one meetings offer them the chance to pitch current projects and to brainstorm on future European co-productions. At EFP’ s Producers’ Lunch, the programme’s participants will moreover come across former PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE who additionally might be the right partners for a project in the pipeline. Looking back, more than 50% of the producers from the past three years are working together on 31 concrete co-productions as a result of the initiative. Following the programme in Cannes, most of the producers stay in contact with one another and often continue negotiations on specific projects. 25 EFP member organisations have again selected independently working and successful producers who already have realized joint European film projects and are on their way to becoming international players. Many of them have produced feature films as well as documentaries, some are additionally active in the field of animation films. With internationally acclaimed titles such as Inside America, produced by Constanze Schumann (Austria), Superclasico, produced by Signe Leick Jensen (Denmark), and Turn Me On, Goddammit, produced by Brede Hovland (Norway), they are among those emerging producers who are ones to watch in the future. Some of the 2012 PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE will be able to present their films in one of the sections of the Cannes Film Festival: Siniša Juričić, Nukleus Film, participant from Croatia, produced the documentary Sofia’s Last Ambulance by Ilian Metev which will have its world premiere in the Semaine de la Critique section. Trent, NFI Productions, participant from The Netherlands will see Villegas, directed by Gonzalo Tobal, in a Special Screening and Monica Lazurean-Gorgan from Romania, 4 Proof Film, will be presented with Adina Pintille's Touch Me Not in Cinéfondation Atelier. Former PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE include such internationally known names as Bettina Brokemper, Germany (Honey), Reinier Selen, The Netherlands (Nothing Personal), Laura Hastings-Smith, UK (Hunger), Lauranne Bourrachot, France (A Prophet), Louise Vesth, Denmark, (Melancholia), Ada Solomon, Romania (Best Intentions), and many others. For the third time, EFP will be cooperating for PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE with the pan-European co-production fund Eurimages.
