Politics in the USA – Vocabulary

1. Vocabulary race: Take the dictionary next to you. One student from your group gets to count 3 -2 – 1 – 0. On the zero mark, everyone opens their dictionaries and looks for the first word. Whoever finds it first shouts “stop” and says the word.

Task:

Look at the cartograms below. Compare the cartograms of the 2012 and 2016 elections and interpret the results.

“Presidential election results map. Red denotes states won by Trump/Pence and blue denotes those won by Clinton/Kaine. Numbers indicate electoral votes cast by each state and the District of Columbia. Trump received 304 and Clinton 227, as 7 faithless electors, 2 pledged to Trump and 5 to Clinton, voted for other candidates.”
